Galaxy hops hails from the Southern hemisphere and are best known for their distinct notes of citrus, peach, and passion fruit. To create Galaxy Gardens we blended local orange blossom honey into white wine barrels of nine and eighteen month old sour blonde ale, allowing the honey to ferment to dryness. Just before packaging, heaps of Galaxy hops were added to each barrel. The big, fruity punch of the Galaxy dry hopping gives way to the sour funk of the base beer, and the delicate, floral notes of the honey extend throughout. We recommend enjoying Galaxy Gardens fresh while the delicate hop aromas are at their peak.

Crystal clear Golden amber with a nice off white head. Pleasant aroma: sweat malt, citrus & apple pear. Slightly tart with apple& pear & a tangerine finish. Good carbonation & feel. Very good sour ale.

galaxy hops are so awesome in good wild ale, and this is a wonderful example of that. this is expert beer, clever and complex, nicely refined, and worth the asking price. its lively from the bottle, glowing pale golden with a little haze and a ton of head rising up. the aroma is the hops first for me, peach and melon notes, light citrus, supported by white wine notes from the barrels and moderate bacterial acidity, tangy and bright, alive and new, really mouthwatering. the hops are grassy and robust in the flavor, in all their fruity goodness, but also vegetal and earthy, which i really like and dont usually think about with galaxy. the white wine is tannic with the oak and has some tang to it, a little sharp, but its refreshing and cuts through the bready grain pretty well. i taste the white grapes themselves too, which are fabulous with the fruity hops. acidity is prominent, but this has a farmhouse mustiness to it as well, bretty and mature, fruity there too, but a nice contrast to the freshness of the hops, and adding a cool wild element. notes of peach and apricot, orange and elderflower, chardonnay and sprite, its a delicious and complex palate. i want a little more from the honey, it seems largely fermented out to me, but overall this is an extremely impressive beer, loaded with yeast character, bright hops, and a sturdy oak backing. i loved this, and will continue to seek out beers from these guys, ive loved all ive had from them so far!

Tart, aromatic and dry. It smells like sticking you head into a bag of hops. Love the flavor, very fruity but dry fruit. Taste lingers on your tongue. It pours nice and golden/honey yellow, not a ton of lacing but it is a very good looking beer. Bottles are beautiful too with the caged cork - looks good at the table.

Better than the ratings indicate. Later years (2017 most recent) have improved on earlier batches dropping the acidity and softening the mouthfeel. Not quite in the dry-hopped saison tier of Casey but a damn good beer.

750ml cork and cage bottle. Served in a tulip glass.

Pours a medium golden-yellow body, one finger thick white head, short retention time, not a whole lot of lacing. Smells of rich grapefruit and tropical fruit, light grassiness, moderate acetic acidity, light oak, touch of lemon. The Galaxy hops are clearly the big driver here, and it's quite nice. Flavour is similarly dry-hopped up, with grapefruit and lemon, moderate acetic acidity, less of the lactic acidity, light oak, touch of dry white wine. It's not superbly complex, but it has a nice dry-hopped presence that is in the vein of the Dry Hopped Oak Theory from Casey. Mouthfeel is lighter-medium bodied, appropriately carbonated, mildly dry, acetic acidity on the finish. Overall, a tasty dry-hopped sour that isn't all that complex but the dry hopping is quite nice for what it accomplishes alongside the base sour blonde.

Thanks to ChewyLewy for sharing this one at the LA Beer Talk bottle share.

Bottled 6/2015. Bottle # 127/400.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy white head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour with citrus fruit, citrus zest, grass, floral, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with sour citrus fruit, citrus juice, floral, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer that is quite sour, but super tasty and easy to drink.

Serving type: bottle.

Bottle #163 of 400.

Galaxy hops make their presence known in this sour blonde ale. Tart citrus fruit and a hint of tropical fruit as well. Just a trace of sweetness in the form orange blossom honey. Much better than I expected.
