On tap for the 2nd Anniversary event at Tony's Darts Away in Burbank, CA.

Pours a murky whitish yellow with a foamy off-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Thick streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, yeast, and a slight apricot fruitiness. Taste is the same with the apricot being very subtle flavor wise. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty average beer with a very mild apricot presence in the aroma and flavor.

Label is different than what is pictured above.

A: Pours a hazy straw yellow with a finger thick white head which fades to the rim leaving some splotchy lace.

N: Fruity (apricots - surprise), some lemon/citrus, wheaty grains, faint sweetness and tartness.

T: Wheaty with some very faint chalk. Apricots prominent along with some stone fruit pits. Mildly sour with trace lemon and grass and yeast.

M: Light body and medium carbonation. Finishes with yeasty wheat and subtle apricot.

O: Labeled as a wheat-wine style, but correctly identified above as a pale wheat ale. Would like to try fresher as the fruits seem somewhat faded.

Hard to find fault with this as a flavored wheat. Big improvement on the standard American style. Sharp and snappy on the tongue. Some orange among the fruit. Great creamy mouthfeel from loads of carbonation that laces the glass and fills the mouth. IBU is in the teens and I don't detect much actual hop flavor, but it does have just a hint of bitterness.

Thoroughly quaffable, but makes a nice aperatif. I don't detect much sweetness, nor is the fruit overdone. It's a touch on the acidic side, but for a summer beer it's ideal.

On-tap at Bruery Provisions

A: The beer pours a hazy yellow/straw color with a tall white head.

S: I don't get quite as much fruit as I anticipated.  Plenty of wheat and yeast with a light grassy note.  The fruit is a bit softer and in the background, but it does provide a nice bit of sweetness.

T: The fruit flavor comes through a bit more, which is nice.  Soft apricot and almost white peach flavors on top of sweet wheat and bread.  There is a light yeast note, mild grass, and almost no bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation.

O: Slightly sweet, but still fairly light and refreshing.  Much better than Hangar 24's more popular fruited wheat offering.

22 oz. bomber,

A: Pours a super hazy goldenrod with a light white head. Looks like a good brewpub wheat.

S: Real nice smell of slightly candied apricots and wheat.

T: Nice apricot infusion into the overall beer which was impressive. Other flavours include some assorted citrus and wheat.

M: Medium-bodied, crisp, ABV is very well hidden.

O: This is a nice wheat beer, I like what they did with the fruit. Well integrated.

798th Review on BA
Bottle to Hangar 24th 2nd Anny Snifter
22oz bottle

Thanks to my wife for a suprise beer

App- A hazy golden yellow with a 1-1/2" finger head and a few whispy lines of cling. More orange on the bottom of the beer.

Smell- A light aromatic beer. Wheat, no real trace of the apricots and maybe a touch of yeast.

Taste- I'm torn on this beer. It's a little better than I thought. It's a little wheaty and has some apricot behind it. The balance of fruit vs wheat beer seems a little skewed. A bit thick and damp and the same time.

Mouth- A medium high carbonation level. A slight wheat and damp apricot residual flavor.

Drink- Not as bad I thought it would be, but for me I am not into adding fruit to a wheat beer. It was pretty tasty on a hot So.Cal day though. Doubt I would have this again.

Cloudy light gold straw color.
Musty estery zesty aroma.
Light wheat beer taste and a crisp finish.

I guess I don’t have much more to add to this review right now.

22-oz.bomber into a pint glass at my house on Dec. 1, 2012 (purchased for $4.99 at Bine and Vine in Kensington (San Diego, Calif.) on Nov. 29, 2012. Hazy straw grapefruit with a finger of light gray head that dissipated very quickly. No retention on the top or on the sides.

Smelled apricot, peach, pear, sour fruit, wheat, lemon grass, honey and some skunkiness.

Tasted similar to the nose. Got sour fruit, tart fruit, apricot, pear, peach, lemon grass and still that slight bit of skunkiness.

Light body. Thin texture. Fizzy (high) carbonation. Abrupt finish.

Decent beer overall. Probably about what I expected, but I’d have it again.

Bottle (2011)

Hangar 24 Brewery
Redlands, CA

Cloudy orange with lighter, closer to yellow, edges. Thin white head. Not much lacing down the glass.

Sweet apricots in the aroma, along with some bready malt character and grass--pleasant but incredibly faint.

The flavor is a combination of apricot flesh and skin, bready malts, and wheat. This beer is certainly easy drinking, though it simply doesn't pack a ton of flavor.

Medium bodied. Very easy to drink.

A very simple, and I hate to say boring, apricot wheat beer. Good enough, especially on a scorching hot Redlands summer afternoon.
