So, I just ahppened to pick up the last two of these at the bevmo in murietta when i was visiting my family. sorry to all the cali guys lookin for this, two of them made it back to indiana with me.
First off this was surprising to me that it was labeled as a porter, i ,as well as my tasting mates, might go as far as to call it a light stout or strong ale.
so we thought this was fantasitc, the color was light on the pour but got darker in the glass.the smell we sweet with pretty heavy bourbon so the first impression was pretty hot before the taste. on the taste iw as plesantly surprised that it wasnt very bitting with the alcohol content or the carbination. it was very very smooth and kind of thin. it could have been thicker and i would have been ok with it. but the smell was not deceiving, very sweet, chocolate very light smoky roasty vanilla, a little caramel.
overall a solid beer

750 mL bottle. Doesn't look like a porter. Deep brown at best. Smell has some light bourbon, light roast, and some light nuttiness. Kinda light smelling in general, considering what it is. Taste is also very light. Cardboard oxidation though. Sweet. Bourbon. Cardboard. A little roast and some brown sugar. Boozy. Medium body. I'd guess this was a richer and more flavorful beer a long time ago. Not so much anymore.

big thanks to atreyufan for this one. enjoyed from a hangar24 snifter.
a - brew pours a deep ruby brown that settles in the glass as black with a foamy grey white head that didnt hang out long but left a thin skin of bubble patches on the surface. streaky lace.
s - nose creamy and dessert like. chocolate mousse perhaps? soft and sweet and definitely decadent. a good amount of vanilla with some caramel glazing.
t/m/o - what jumps out at first is the mouthfeel. really creamy. a bit boozy and oh so decadent. big vanilla, caramel and soft roast but everything is smoothed over from the barrel. big and bold. lush and flavorful.
