Bought at a local BevMo in Brea CA. They only had 5 in stock.

You can definitely taste the chocolate and porter when you first take a sip. The flavor slowly develops bringing out the bourbon flavor. It all finishes with a nice vanilla aftertaste.
It is a smooth beer, medium-bodied, making it easy to drink. The alcohol is not overpowering despite the strong smell of bourbon. The roasted malts and cocoa nibs make a nice base for the beer allowing the flavor of the woods to take over.

The nose is warm and inviting. More a dank, rich chocolate hiding behind a fair amount of alcohol. Better depth on the nose than most BA porters.

The flavors are very rich. Lots of differing chocolates come to mind. Hard to pin down just one. It is thick yet velvety. Silky even. And it has a big backbone of alcohol to rest on. Great candidate to age. Ready now, but offering lots of promise for laying down a bottle. It is very mouth coating and has after taste of dark chocolate for days.

Very impressive porter. Had this both in growler and from a bottle and the growler comes across as a bit more angular and sharper. More of a wet stone blanket feel. Both are fantastic. A slight bit thinner than the Cobra stout, but equally worthy offering.

So, I just ahppened to pick up the last two of these at the bevmo in murietta when i was visiting my family. sorry to all the cali guys lookin for this, two of them made it back to indiana with me.

First off this was surprising to me that it was labeled as a porter, i ,as well as my tasting mates, might go as far as to call it a light stout or strong ale.

so we thought this was fantasitc, the color was light on the pour but got darker in the glass.the smell we sweet with pretty heavy bourbon so the first impression was pretty hot before the taste. on the taste iw as plesantly surprised that it wasnt very bitting with the alcohol content or the carbination. it was very very smooth and kind of thin. it could have been thicker and i would have been ok with it. but the smell was not deceiving, very sweet, chocolate very light smoky roasty vanilla, a little caramel.

overall a solid beer

Wonderful rich looking pour. A deep, dark brown color with a ton of rich tan lacing throughout the glass. Competely opaque with no light shing through and the two inch head of chocolate on top only settled down gradually by the end of the session.

The aroma was to die for. Rich notes of whiskey and campfire aromas mixed seemlessly into a roasted malt and light coffee like smell. The flavor though was simply superb. Touches of oak and roasted caramel mixing with lots of peat and whiskey barrle goodness. So rich and full, even as it warmed it was second to none in the smoked flavor. This was easily the best smoked beer I have ever had. Such a rich mix of barrel flavors and the whiskey just presented itself in the perfect mixture. Full bodied with wonderful carbonation and the alcohol was no where near too strong, in facvt it came off just right.
