2015 bottle (I haven't tried previous years vintages). 13.5% abv. Pours ink black with a mocha 1/2 inch head. Nose is chocolate, vanilla, maple, bourbon, currants, dark fruit. Very rich. Taste is similar with the bourbon and maple being the dominant flavors. More subtly are roasted malts, oak, and coffee. Sweetness is there, but not overpowering or cloying. Feel is slick and oily. Coats the tongue nicely. Alcohol is hidden well. Overall, a very well done maple BBA stout that offers good complexity.

2015 version (13.5% abv) into a Teku at cellar temp.

Look: neither the thinnest nor the darkest BA RIS around; essentially no head.

Smell: coffee, mild bourbon, mild chocolate, maple syrup.

Taste: raw bourbon up front, followed by massive roast, and honestly not much else. Not getting very much depth or complexity. A little bit of interesting plum/concord grape asserts as it warms, but it's just dominated by the bourbon/roast flavors.

Feel: fairly thin, with some alcohol heat.

Overall: I've been looking (lazily) for PC for years, and I'm definitely glad I didn't try harder. This is a middle-of-the-road BA RIS. I'm hoping a year or two in the cellar will give the flavor a chance to balance out a bit.

Lots of toffee on the palate at first with a bit of walnut and caramel. Light barrel flavors of coconut and vanilla as it finishes with maple and molasses.

2015 vintage. 13.9% on tap (bottles say 13.5%). Brewed with maple syrup.

This honestly tastes near identical to BCS. The maple provides a little extra and makes it a bit sweeter. Chocolate, roasted malts, big bourbon and oak, vanilla.

Full bodied. Nice and thick. The right amount of carbonation. Ends with nice warming bourbon notes.

Very impressed with this stout. Exceeded my expectations by far. Huge beer. 10 oz glass was a good amount.

2015 Edition.

Look - Completely opaque. Great medium tan head.

Smell - Strong caramel, smoke, and maple syrup aroma. Very satisfying.

Taste - Not overly boozy for 13.5%. Again caramel, smoke, and maple syrup are present along with hints of vanilla and oak.

Feel - Not as thick as I would've liked but definitely not thin like other stouts.

Overall - Absolutely in love with this beer. Everything I was looking for. Interested in how this would age.

2014 Edition at 18.9 abv.
Dark black, with thin brown head quickly dissipating. Alcohol not overpowering after a year in the cellar, but very warm. Maple syrup is up front, but not very sweet. The barrel wood is dominant and dries out the mouth. Rich dark roasted stout malts. A slow sipper and a pleasure to share with a friend.

Large shared bottle.
This stout reflects high quality and relatively strong bourbon barrel aging. This helps make it rather boozy but it befits the aroma and flavor. The dark body has nice red-brown highlights when held to the light. Fine and long lasting aftertaste of dark roasted grains, vanilla and bourbon barrels.
Smooth but a bit too hot.
