appearance: caramel brown, a little hazy. Quite a big head for such a big beer. Very messy lacing sticks to the glass.
smell: not getting a lot of in your face bourbon and whiskey> this is a more subtle barrel aged American. A strong American nose with the barrel treatment adding a depth made up of subtle vanilla, spice, and caramel. A damn fine nose.
taste: not quite up to the nose but still very nice. slightly bitter finish.
overall: Smooth, very drinkable.

Thanks Mrbubbler!

Appearance. Pours a very deep ruby-amber-brown. Yep, sticking with that. Pretty darn clear and a finger of off-white head.

Smell. Big sweet bourbon, raisins, toffee, old wood barrel and a drop or two of port.

Taste. Toffee and raisins, not nearly the level of boozy bourbon that comes through in the nose, but a nice complimentary amount, woody vanilla,

Mouthfeel. Full body, medium and soft feeling carbonation.

Overall. Very nice barleywine. Didn't notice the abv until after I opened it, shall be an interesting evening!

Poured from a bottle

Nice and hazy, just how I like it. Beautiful brown color hard to describe. Very little head.
Smells of sour cherry, raisins, cinnamon bread with frosting, chocolate.
Big bourbon flavor, cherry, vanilla, spices, finishes with that ethanol taste.
Mouth feel is nice. Not too light.
Overall tasty. Not as good as Sucaba. Wouldn't buy it again for the price.
