CHANDELLE represents a perfect balance of fruit and funk, marrying the bright flavors of Golden Sweet apricots with the oak-aged complexity of sour beer. It begins as a blonde ale brewed with both malted and unmalted wheat, a blank canvas which is laid down in freshly emptied white wine barrels and topped off with our house souring culture. Over the course of a year these yeast and bacteria transform the liquid, bringing forth a beer that is both deeply funky and refreshingly sour. The barrels are then blended back together just before the final addition- a generous helping of fresh apricots plucked from Blossom Bluff Orchards in Central California. The tart flavors and aromas of the fresh fruit perfectly balance the acidic, bracingly sour base developed in the barrel.

2017 bottle. Corked and caged into a Founders snifter. Shared with schen9303.
Pours flat. This one's near still. No head with coarse bubbles. Nose is tart stone fruit, lemon, and vinegar. Rather mellow acidity. Beer opens sweet and tart apricot. The sour presence builds and builds and builds and continues to build towards the end. This one's undrinkably sour. Acidic towards the middle and end though it at least maintains a prominent apricot presence. Body is medium with no carbonation. Oily and slick on the palate and lifeless going down with a filmy, lingering aftertaste.
If this one was carbonated, I think it would be halfway decent. As is, this bottle is way over the hill.

Had a bottle of 2017 in June 2019. Popped cork, no hiss.
Apricot beer pours an apricot color, albeit slightly darker/duller. Noticed it didn't make much of a head, 1/6" at its peak. I was concerned here, rightfully so.
Taste, hey, its an apricot wild ale, and you've had plenty from Cascade, Bruery, Monkish, Rare Barrel, De Garde etc., out this way. Its nice and comparable to most apricot wild ales: bright, apricot, sour, acidic, light wood, you know the drill. Here though, it comes up a bit short overall, as the mouth feel is compromised by a very low carbonation level to the point that it is a light flaw. I might be a little hard on them here, as apricot is my favorite fruit. But the low carbonation seems to have been a relatively widespread thing for 2017, so I don't think this is on me or Winco.
Now I know why this was only $10 at the grocery store, but I would check it out again, it really only had one flaw.

Thanks to Francois for sharing this bottle.
A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice hazy golden hue with a thin white head that fades to leave light lacing and thin wisps.
S - Big aromas of apricot juice and stone fruit pits. Nice tartness, bright juice and light funk.
T - Taste is similar to the nose with loads of slightly sweet incredibly tart acidic and pits. Good acidity and really bright apricot.
M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, crisp, clean with a lingering flemmy acidic finish.
O - Overall this was a very solid fruited ale. Tons of acidity here but drinks great in the summer.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden/orangey color ale with a small foamy head with very little retention. Aroma of tart notes is dominant some oak and acidity also showing. Taste is also a mix of sour notes with some pronounced acidic flavours, some oak and light funky flavours. Body is about average with light carbonation. Not bad but lacking depth and complexity.

Bottle.
A: Lots of apricot flesh, lightly vinous, funky, with a sharp lingering sourness
A: Bright yellow color, totally clear, with a large frothy head that has solid retention. Plenty of lacing in the glass.
T: Apricot flavor upfront, light vinous flavor, followed by a sharp lingering super strong sourness that lingers through the finish.
M: Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation. There is a light, but pleasing acidity to the beer.
O: Pretty tasty; While ridiculously sour the beer has ample apricot aroma and flavor that has a great vinous character that is nicely contrasted by a clean sharp lingering sourness.
