Cherry Imaging was released on draft February 2015. This rating is from the glass I had at the Bier Stein. It was served very cold so I had to hold the glass about 20 minutes to let it come up to cellar temperature. I suggest serving at 55 and allowing to warm to 60F. This ale is a hybrid of a BBA RIS with a Beligan ale yeast and cherries combining three of my favorite ale styles bba stout, Belgian strong dark ale and cherry ale.
Appearance: The lighting was low so I can't say for sure if it was dark brown or black in color. Hints of red around the edges when held up towards the light. Reddish brown thin head. Small amount of lacing.
Smell: Sweet and tart cherries, followed by vanilla, bourbon, chocolate and subtle dark fruits and coffee with a hint of woodiness. Slight aroma of booziness.
Taste: Front of the tough is sweet bing cherries and vanilla followed by dark chocolate, slightly boozie bourbon, dark fruits, smooth coffee and subtle earthy oak. Finish is acidic tart cherries leaving a crisp dry finish and hiding the booziness.
Mouthfeel: Coming in at 15% abv this ale has the medium body of a red wine with a full mouthfeel of a bba RIS. Its mouthcoating creamy, rich and smooth, warming and has a tart dry finish that cleanses the pallet and hides the booziness imparting a subtle warming sensation. Carbonation is low which fits the style.
Overall: As the drink warms the bourbon and dark fruits become more prominent and better integrated into the cherry, vanilla and chocolate flavors. The way everything comes together makes this ale a true artistic masterpiece. Think cherry forward red wine meets a smooth creamy medium body bourbon stout and throw in some dark fruit from the Belgian yeast. What a treat. I hope they bottle this. Highly recommend.

On tap at the brewpub last night.
The beer pours a blackish brown color with pretty good head retention and lacing. On the nose, this is all decadent richness, as I pick up considerable black cherry and dark chocolate, with some underlying vanilla and coffee as well. The flavor profile is just more of the same in this sweet, rich beer. Mouthfeel is pretty fully, and the beer has a long, soft on the palate, cherry chocolate infused finish. Alcohol is well integrated into the flavor profile, though you can tell it's up there.
Yummy!!!
