L: Poured into a Pint Defiance tulip. Canned on 1/6/15. Finger width white head, body is a hazy peach orange hue. It looks like a glass of fruit juice. Amazing!

S: Pure tropical fruit and flora, along with subtleties of tangerine and mandarin orange. Full of juicy pineapple, lychee, peach, and mango. It's like a fluffy cloud from the tropics is gently floating through your nostrils.

T: Same as the nose. Very mild soft bitterness and a hint of spicy resin. There is also a slight malt backbone to this, but the beer stays dry. Quite balanced.

F: Medium bodied and smooth, with medium carbonation. Easy drinking.

Being a big fan of Chuck's Hop Shop, I've wanted to get my hands on one of these for a while. Luckily, I had a friend visit from Seattle, that works there. My can was well over a month old, but was still juicy and hoppy. I'd love to try one that was fresher, I'm sure it would be even better.

On tap at N.W.I.P.A yesterday.

The beer pours a hazy yellow gold amber color with very good head retention and considerable lacing. For sure, this beer looks nice enough. On the nose, there is a huge aroma of tropical fruit and citrus, with some underlying vanilla as well. The beer smells great. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, with an intensity of flavor that is quite impressive. The tropical flavors give the beer some noticeable sweetness that is countered and balanced very well by the noticeable hoppy bitterness in this beer. The hoppy bitterness leads to a very clean and dry finish, and drinkability is just excellent in this beer. Alcohol is very well integrated in this fairly full bodied IPA, and finish is long and lightly bitter.

Wow, this stuff is great. Very glad to have finally had the chance to sample this excellent beer, and can only hope there will additional opportunities in the future (though I just saw that the keg at NWIPA is long gone). This is excellent stuff.

Can from ABV. Canned 01 March 2018

A very hazy light orange with a dense, off-white head, this looks solid. The nose is very juicy with a lot of peach, papaya, passionfruit and citrus. Sumo mandarins, cara cara oranges, a little honey and some biscuit are present. The palate opens very juicy, moderately bitter and quite tasty.Plenty of peach and citrus juice with notes of passionfruit and papaya are present. Grassy notes are at a minimum. Mildly sweet with a mild bubblegum like flavor. Medium in body, moderately carbonated, this one's solid.

Can. White head. Golden orange color.

Tropical and dank. Citrusy and weedy. Very green and earthy. Some stone fruit. This is an okay ipa, but nothing I am crazy about.

taken from notes on draft at Chucks

Body is the colour of peach meat with a minimal white head but a good little fuzz, particularly bunched at the edges. Good lacing.
Juicy tropical fruits that are more guava than mango. Touch of malts sitting behind.
Follows many of the same cues, but with a more fully flushed out heft. Sweet overripe fruit is the driver backed up by a stark bitterness contrast that carries through a long citrus rind finish.
Carbonation is a fine dance of effervescence surrounding a sticky medium body.

Poured from a crowler into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a very hazy gold/orange amber with a two finger white head with good retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of citrus hops, orange family citrus, pineapple, tropical fruit, light bready and caramel malt. Juicy. Flavor follows, with fruit forward citrus hops, mixed ripe tropical fruit, grapefruit, orange and tangerine, hints of pine and dankness with a sturdy lightly caramel malt. Interesting lingering, lightly resinous hop bitterness that is not really as astringent as its intensity would warrant. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A really full flavored and complex IPA, with so many competing flavors that it should be a mess, but still tastes great. The malt has little overt flavor, with a mild caramel, but supports this hop onslaught wonderfully. Really satisfying hoppy but not tongue buckling finish. Very nicely done. Upon announcement, this raised a lot of excitement in Seattle and the cans sold extremely quickly. I missed the cans, but was able to get this crowler from Chuck's CD. Glad I made it although hopefully this will be made again. We live in the golden age of IPAs, it's hard to believe so many excellent ones are coming out now.

16 oz can

A pretty standard pour yields about a finger of white head into my can-style glass. The head is somewhat soapy, and I can hear it fizzing away. Within a minute the head is mostly gone. Not what I would call good retention. There is a nice layer of film left on top of the body though. The color is a lovely light orange. Looks like a cremesickle. It's extremely cloudy, zero visibility. The head was a let down, but not a bad looking beer so far.

The aroma is hop forward. Pretty earthy and funky as far as the hops go, with a noticeable citrus presence. Very orangey. On some sniffs I do get a little pine. Tangerine and mango are also present. For being so earthy, it comes across as very refreshing with that citrus. You can tell this is a fresh beer, which is sweet. Very nice aroma overall.

The flavor on this guy is amazing though. Earthy hops blend with soft tropical fruit. Extremely juicy and bright. Finishes creamy. It has this soft, and smooth silkiness to it, feels like ice cream. Small amount of pine. While the flavors blend fantastically together, there aren't too many of them. The fruit kinda all hits as one and is more of a blend than individual flavors. Not necessarily a bad thing. Bitterness does not linger. While on the topic, the bitterness is becoming an afterthought, as the sweetness from the fruity flavors (and probably malt) are taking center stage. Overall this is a great beer, not quite 4.5, but it's close.

As mentioned, the mouthfeel is amazing. Super creamy, with no lingering bitterness. Might as we be a freakin pina colada. Carbonation is low, but has a bite at times. Overall a fantastic feel, smooth, and that compliments the citrus aspect very well.

The drinkability is fantastic as well, extremely tasty and very sessionable for an IPA.

Overall this is a soft, creamy, fruity IPA, with just enough bitterness and hop flavor to keep it in check. A great go to if you like tropical hops, or just killer IPA's. Anyways, great beer.

The appearance turned out ok. Patchy lacing was all I got, but I suppose that's better than nothing. I am probably one of the only people who enjoy cloudy beers, but hey, that's my thing. Overall not an amazing looking beer, but the body and color were very pretty, so that'll bump it up a little bit.

The Hop Shop that forms a line for extraterrestrial home brewers pours a laser beam yellow, whatever the hell that means. Brunch orange juice cocktail perhaps? It's yellowy orange and beautiful with a wispy white foam that leaves a fine film of bubbles wherever it has made contact.

Mango seems to be the fruit of outer space as this is chalked full of it. Dank weed, damp pine, and ripe citrus seem to be well exported and used, and some wet earthling soil managed to jump on board as well.

Holy fuuuuuuu......! Wow! Peachy flesh begins and steals the show with this one. The rest of the fruity goods manage to be ignored by me before that wonderful pine and recreational herb finish this glorious flavor bombardment off.

This manages to be superbly crisp, bitter, fresh and juicy all at the same time. It's incredible really. Obviously it has some fruity sweetness, the medium carbonation and long lasting bitter finish lend a wonderfully dry end.

This is definitely one of the best IPA's I've had. It is so drinkable and delicious. I'm going back for more. Excuse me. Cheers!
