A blend of Super Nebula, Nebula, and Imagine matured in bourbon barrels with Tahitian vanilla pods and organic Peruvian coffee beans. A deeply complex combination with notes of cocoa, chocolate and bourbon. The sweet body is gently balanced by the roast and slightly acidic Peruvian coffee beans. Good morning!

Huge thanks to Rathakem for this crazy extra! Thanks Sean!

375ml bottle with pressure cap.

poured into tulip glass.

Description/blend ratio stated on label of the bottle:
40% Imagine
30% Super Nebula
30% Nebula
with Tahitian Vanilla Pods & Aeropressed Organic Peruvian Coffee Beans in 20 yr old Bourbon barrels.

Appearance: Dark black bodied beer with 1 full finger of mocha colored head. Drops down to a thin and uneven cap; eventually just a ring around the perimeter of the glass. Nice lacing sticks to the glass; it a little better than spotty lacing.

Smell: Lots of bourbon and smokey oak notes. Hint of vanilla sweetness. Fruity and nutty coffee beans. Milk Chocolates. Not much roastiness in the nose.

Taste: Bourbon, vanilla, and milk chocolate; smokey and slightly chared oak barrel. Great finesse with the barrel aging! Its got a bold flavor, but is still smooth. Tobacco and a slightly vinous stout flavor to the beer; thats definately from the Imagine portion of the blend. Also has a little bit of milk stout influence that adds more chocolaty flavors to the beer. Also hints of a mildly roasty coffee that tastes like it smells; with fruity and nutty coffee beans. Lingering smokey and charred barrel notes in the finish with a little bit of sweetness from vanilla that almost has a rootbeer "esk" taste. Delicious complex beer here!

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with low carbonation levels. The beer is slightly oily, creamy, and a little bit of smooth silkyness. Hides it ABV very well.

Overall: I am assuming this beer is aged in 20yr PvW barrels since thats the same barrel that Block 15 uses to age Super Nebula and Pappy's Dark. I am a huge fan of Block 15 and this one did not dissapoint at all. This is the best Block 15 barrel aged stout that I have tried yet! The sum of the parts is better than both Super Nebula and Imagine. This really is a wonderful beer and I hope its not a one off! It should be Block 15's signature stout! They did a really good job of blending and barrel aging.

Reviewed from notes. 375ml bottle shared by Jeremy - thanks. 2013.

A: Pours black with a 1/2-inch thick tan head which fades to the rim and leaves spots of lace.

N: Chocolate cake, vanilla, malts, mellow bourbon, coffee, a slight cardboard note.

T: Coffee frosted chocolate cake, sweet vanilla cream filling, roasted caramel, bourbon and wood. Complex and balanced.

M: Full body and light carbonation. Creamy and smooth coffee finish.

O: Very nicely done. A treat for sure.

Thanks to John for the bottle(s). I opened one to share at a recent tasting.

Thick black pour, with a small mocha head that receded to a ring. Some dots of lacing stuck to the glass, and a few legs as well. Great aroma, chocolate, dark malts, vanilla and bourbon, hints of dark fruits, sweet mostly, with just a little roast to it. Taste and texture was right up there with the big boys of the style--BCBS, KBS, DOS. Caramel, molasses, milk chocolate, vanilla cream, bourbon-soaked oak, lighter notes of smoke, tobacco, red licorice. I almost regret sharing this, because I wanted the whole bottle to myself! (Oh well, I have another.) Smooth mouthfeel, full body, a great drinker overall.

I wasn't a big fan of Imagine...even after sitting for 2 years, that one was hot as hell, almost like straight bourbon. But I think blending it with some "lighter" beers was really the way to go. Brunch was a major success.
