The Fort Wayne Granite City was a nice establishment to visit and enjoy teh company of family. The atmosphere was fine...it was an upscale brewery, bar, and eatery. The quality of the beer was decent and the food was great. The service was a bit slow, but friendly. They had seven beers on tap to try....although one was a combination of two. The food menu was good plus there were specials. The food was great...no one complained....I had teh cajun pasta which was good and my better half raved about the Asian Salad. Overall the value was good...for $70 we had two adult entres, three kids meals, a sampler platter, and two pints, plus tip. The restaurant was quite nice....they comp'ed my Bro-in-Laws meal since this was his welcome home meal from his second tour in Iraq!!

I don't really think this place gives you bang for buck for what it is in Fort Wayne. I mean the building is nice and clean and you get good service. However, the food is more expensive than applebees with same type food just a little more "upscale" The beer was expensive I thought. 5 bucks for a pint which was 20 oz. was alright, but the beer there is just alright. Nothing to ride home about. 5 beers on tap and did offer a couple pulls or mixtures of some. The food was good food don't get me wrong, but more pricey for Fort Wayne area than what you would want for a good beer and food. I'd rather spend a few less bucks a plate at the bees and have money leftover for a six pack afterwards.

Granite City is just an OK addition to the slowly growing Ft Wayne beer scene.

The beers are only average at best, nothing outstanding, but not horrible either. They have a Bock, IPA, Stout, and Light Lager, as well as a seasonal. The Bock and the IPA are unoffensive and a little thin, but not all that bad I guess. The Stout is slightly better. All in all the beers are just so-so.

The mug club is a good deal, after joining for 20 bucks, you get 25 oz pours for $3.95 for life, and 10% off on your food, and your first beer is free.

Speaking of the food, it is not bad at all, but, like the beers, not fantastic. Everything is edible and looks nice, but, for example, don't expect fresh salmon. Stick to the simpler dishes and most will be happy.

Granite City is the type of place that will do well in areas without much competition, like Ft Wayne, but would not last 6 months in an area with even some average brewpubs/beer bars. A decent place in Ft Wayne for a beer and a sandwich while the wife walks around Glenbrook Mall, nothing more.

I have been to GC in Fort Wayne 5+ times in the past 6 months. Nice atmosphere, it appears to cater to professionals.

Beer -- They have four beers on tap: a Light, Bock, IPA, Stout. The server will recommend a two pull (Light and Bock) as well. They also offer a seasonal beer which was the Ostara Spring Ale on my last visit. Overall, I find the beers to be mediocre and tiresome (they get old quickly...esp if you are a Mug Club member). The Bock and IPA seem to lack inspiration, which may be a result of playing it safe (I will save the specifics for the beer reviews). The Stout is solid and my wife likes the Light. It would be nice if they had more variation or offered more seasonal.

Food -- In my experience, the food is pricey, but very consistent and good. I really enjoy the Cuban enough that I don't mind paying the $7+ for it. French Onion Soup is good as well. Overall, I am always happy with my food as are the others at my table.

Service -- This one is tough. The service is brisk and eager so sometimes it is good, no hassle service. However, the restaurant is very loud when it is busy. When it is busy, it almost feels like the floor of a stock exchange with people at the table yelling out orders and requests in loud clear voices. I have had a couple of miscommunications which led to getting the wrong beer size and waiters have forgotten requests for small things, like water or condiments. Your waiter rarely delivers the food, so you have to claim what you ordered and wait until your waiter comes by to make corrections.

This review is kind of negative, but my wife and I really like their food. It is too pricey to eat there weekly, but when someone wants a good meal Granite City is at the top of the list.
