Really this is just a small bar in an industrial warehouse type of area full of their brewing equipment. I mean, so much open space, but not a television, pool or ping pong table in the place. Spartan decorations, aside from the decent collection of cans and bottles running around the place.
Quality of their beers is pretty average. Never had anything 'bad' from them. Kind of weird phenomenon, they make some basic styles I'm not normally into like schwarzbier and reds, but I like when they make them. Then, some of the more popular styles, like ipa's, I'm not into theirs. I like their selection though, its so far from the basic 5 that you always see, and their beers are always seemingly counter to the current trends, especially with their hopping of usually hoppy styles.
Service is decent, they'll chat you up if you ask about specifics, share some funny stories about some upstarts from the area that pose about brewing stuff. And they hooked it up when the Canfest had the Surly debacle at $1 a can.

Review is from a prior visit a few months ago.
Atmosphere is ok. Set in an industrial warehouse, fridge with beer to go, small bar, and a seating area behind the bar with some benches and a dart board. But you really come here only to sample their beers.
Quality is pretty good. I find Buckbean's beers to be average, sometimes better, sometimes worse, but usually at least worth trying.
Service was indifferent, and at times standoffish. Our server came off as unfriendly, and kind of ignored us. (Maybe because we weren't regulars or locals? Don't know...) And the last time I was there, they had a sign about discounted growlers during your birthday month. My friends birthday was on the 31st, and it was the 1st, and the bartender still refused to give him the deal. Fine, but she wasn't friendly about the whole thing at all.
Selection is small, I believe they have 6 taps with a decent variety.
No food and fair prices.
Worth a trip once, but I don't have a desire to go back anytime soon.

Visited the brewery/tasting room on 10/14/11. It sits in an industrial park on Rock Blvd. There are shelves lined with glasses, bottles, and other paraphernalia with the Buckbean logo on them, as well as other brewery's bottles.
They have about 5-6 beers on tap at any time. I tried the Black Noddy, Orange Blossom ale, Tule Duck, Bourbon Barrel Tule Duck, and two of their IPAs.
Most of the beers are okay. The Bourbon Tule Duck tasted off (sour) and the Belgian IPA was not hoppy enough to be an IPA (it wasn't very good for a pale either).
All in all, it's the only real micro in Reno and it's okay. The employees and owners are great people though, I just wish they had a few more good beers.
