32 oz crowler filled at the brewery a few days ago.

Pours the advertised black, under a dark tan head that stays nicely, leaving a larger bubble film, thicker collar and minor blobs of larger bubble lace.

Faint nose of burnt malts.

Mildly tart brew, I get mostly notes of ripe dark fruit, with sour blackberries coming to mind.
Also some dark and roasted malts...medium tart, pretty tasty, enjoyably approachable and drinkable...I'd like to try this one with some sweet and smoky BBQ

The beer pours a black color with a very small beige head that quickly dissipates into nothingness.

The aroma is a touch meaty and had a nice char scent. Nothing very strong but it is pleasant. Perhaps a hint of chocolate going on. Not much from the wild yeast except for a subtle acidic aroma.

The sour comes through much more in the flavor. Tart apple and lemon with a touch of oak. It's sour but not overly so. A little bit of the roast and char flavors come through but they are quite light.

The feel moderate with very weak carbonation. There is a stark acidity on the palate but that is dulled by the roasted malt. Pretty clean in the finish.

A nice sour beer with some roasted notes. The flavors blend well.

bottle picked up at the brewery. enjoyed from my TB batch 002 oversized 22oz snifter (markintihar baby!)

a - pried the wax from the bottle and popped the cap and filled my glass. the brew poured a deep black with maroon highlights suggested when held to the light. i poured slowly so as to fill all 22oz in my glass, but there was still a thin bubbly dark tan head that bubbled away quick. lacing was slick and didn't really cling to the glass nary a few streaks here and there.

s - out of the gate the nose has a sharp sour tingle over a nice roasted impy stout. the chocolate roast of dirty deeds is glazed over with a lacto pinch yielding an appetizing burgandy sour.

t/m - taste is really nice and the carbonation sits just right on this one. vinous cherry burgandy sour flavors dance on top of a faded roasty stout. tickles the tip of my tongue with a pucker of a sour and finishes smooth and not overly dry. has some really nice red wine qualities. drinkability is extremely high. seems to get better and better as it warms.

o - overall, much like the black ipa, the dark sour is a newer animal to me and one that challenges the taste buds. they are all very hit or miss for me with few towing the middle line. devil's deed falls on the good side of the spectrum for what i look for in a dark sour. a burgandy sour without too much pucker and no eggy sourness...but most important it isn't overly dry. i dig it and am psyched to see such promising stuff coming from Long Island.

Poured at brewery. Very dark pour, very little tan head. Nose is roast with a hint of lemon. Taste is unique, heavy roast at first, then a lemony tartness takes over. Love that it is unique.

Pours slightly darker than cola with a loose head. Nose is roasty with a hint of acidity. Taste is roasty, tart and reminiscent of an ashtray - not good. Mouthfeel is tangy and tart with a light carbonation. Overall - not good; this one was a drain pour.
