This place is big and loud and kinda jarring at first since I tend to prefer more intimate comfy and cozy places. So busy we had to wait for 30 minutes or so to get in and get a table. Well that wait turned out to be well worth it, and my hesitations about the grand scale of the place soon melted away. This place was packed for a reason. Delicious beer and delicious food, friendly and interesting staff, and a cool space to hang out. If I ever visit Portland again, I'm going here again 100%.

so cool to make it into this place, i know its not the original or the large brewery, but its a cool space, one of my favorite breweries for the last bunch of years, and a full list of amazing beers. too busy for a seat, so we just stood in the bar area and sucked them back. a huge space, almost like an old warehouse or something, but it has tons of character, medals adorn the walls, some amazing northwestern themed wood carvings hang in the middle of the space and divide the bar from the restaurant areas, and the brew house is visible through windows behind the bar. its absolutely packed, but their draft list is enormous. twenty or more beers pouring. i was absolutely blown away by the pinot suave, while their range of ipas was also quite impressive. service was irrelevant because it was so busy, but it wasnt bad at all. i spent most of the whole time feeling like i was in the way because of how busy it was, but the beers made the experience well worth it. that pinot sauve, served in a teku, as just a joyous drink. i still am really keen to check out the original deschutes spot, but this is a destination in its own right, very cool they have this place in portland to visit. absolutely worth it to poke in for a few beers when in the area!

One of the fun beer places to check out when in Portland. The selection is really good, especially when they have The Abyss and its variants on tap. Food is a bit pricey, but still tasty. Our waitress was very attentive and made the visit a treat. Very busy, so come early. Definitely one of my beer highlights in Portland.

I've been here a few times now and have never been let down. Many great beers on tap, including ones only available at this location. It can be a very crowded place during peak weekend hours, but the staff does their best to accommodate everyone. The last time I was there we ate food in the bar area and the staff helped us navigate the close quarters to get a seat. The food is solid bar/American style and great portion sizes. If you're looking for a relaxing beer drinking experience, this probably isn't the place, but with Deschutes it's hard to beat the quality for the price.

Been here many times, most recently for the release of Abyss 2015 and its variants. Always enjoyed it, either for a quick beer or a couple hours of dinner and brews. I love the wood carvings throughout and the overall warmth the place exudes. Staff is friendly and quick and the food is excellent. I only wish they offered some more different beers. While you can taste most anything Deschutes brews, there's not a lot of experimental or one-off stuff. But that's really my only complaint. Stop by if you ever have the chance.

I'm not a fan of Deschutes...just being honest. We went for other breweries but figured we should stop in since Portland = Deschutes. Beer was as expected but food was great. We each had pub style food but there were plenty of other "nicer" options. I had an elk burger for the first time. Atmosphere was cool northwest.

Really seems like a restaurant rather than a brewery. Huge place, and the tap list was fine. Very family friendly, and the service was good. Food was above average.

Place is packed.
Parking is a challenge
Beers are excellent, but you can easily get in stores
Not really worth the hassle is you are not staying in downtown Portland
