Notes: Shegöat is a brand new beer to our lineup, based on one of Patrick's original, multiple award winning homebrew recipes. Based primarily on the traditional weizenbock style of Germany, brewed with both malted barley and wheat, the beer is rich in the flavors of bananas, cloves and caramel with a notes of cake spice hovering in the background. Just like the banana bread that großmutter used to make.

A- Dark brown in color with ruby highlights. Persistent creamy/frothy tan head. Surprisingly murky for a lager.

S- Richy toasty/malty character that is unsurprising for a dopplebock. Some caramel character as well with dark fruits such as prunes and figs. Small amounts of alcohol apparent.

T- The rich malty character dominates from start to finish. Toasty malt comes through the strongest as the dark fruits apparent in the smell linger in the background. A nutty and toffee character is noticeable in the middle as the finish of the beer once again returns to the strong malt with small amounts of alcohol.

M- Medium-full body with a creamy carbonation and slight alcohol presence.

O- A great dopplebock. Missing some of the overall quality of the best dopplebocks, but still worth the money.

750ml into a snifter. The brew appears a murky brown color with a khaki cap that shows decent retaining power.

This smells like belgian candy sugar mixed with yeasty notes of clove l, bubblegum and vanilla with a faint chocolate roasted grain backing.

The taste is fruity like pear and apple with a spice of clove rounded out with flavors of original bubblegum and candy sugar sweetness blending to caramel malt.

This is medium bodied and modestly carbonated. Overall a pretty solid brew. It is a refreshing change of pace to have a normal, adjunct-free brew from this brewery.

Beautiful red auburn color with a big stack of foam in the Aventinus weissbier bulb. Tremendous creamy, foamy mouthfeell. Deep aroma of dark malt and a touch of fruit, grain, and bananas.

Expansive malty flavors with that sistinctive sweet taste edged by a bitter, burnt tang. Warm caramel flavors yet bitterish enough to be well balanced. A great strong brew with the German esters and just enough of the spice. It tastes more of cinnamon than clove. The sweetness stays with every sip, but ends with the sharp notes.

One of the best German wheat beers of 2013. It's also a revelation to me, not a big fan of the Bruery sours and silly brews. I hope they'll take on more of the traditional styles more often. From the 750 ml bottle purchased at Bottlecraft in Little Italy.

750ml bottle.

A: Pours a deep mahogany with a fluffy, very dense, thick, dark tan head that faded into a thick rocky long lasting fuzzy film that left patches of soapy lacing down the glass.
S: Banana, caramel, butterscotch, brown sugar, slight booze, and toast on the nose.
T: Heavy and potent flavors of butterscotch, bananas fosters, caramel, slight vanilla, more butterscotch and ripe, sweet, banana. There’s mild cocoa, raisin, and dark fruit in the finish, with hints of caramel and spice in the aftertaste.
M: Fuzzy, very soft carbonation; decadent and rich full body, chewy mouthfeel. Slight boozy finish. Potent.
O: Boozy and rich but great flavors and fairly smooth. Might do some good to leave in the bottle for a bit.

Pours a murky, dark, brown-amber color with a large, off-white head. Scent is very inviting, and spot-on for a weizenbock aroma. Nice balance of banana, clove, malt, and spices. The description of banana bread seems kinda ridiculous, but when you let this beer sit for a bit, you definitely get the banana bread. The taste compliments that statement as well. If this beer is too cold, you will get absolutely NO BANANA BREAD. Let this beer sit and warm up... you will definitely get some banana bread. Clove, banana, spices, and slightly tart yeasty flavors. This beer is absolutely delicious! Mouthfeel is full bodied, but fluffy at the same time. Drinkability is very high. Overall, I was very skeptical going into this one. Had the option of buying six, but only bought two. Big regret. Going back to buy four more. One of the best German-style beers I've had. They definitely hit this style right on the head. You've probably made my favorite German-style beer. Bravo Bruery!

A. Pours a deep ruby brown with a beautiful two finger khaki colored head. Retention is outstanding with a big creamy ring of froth lasting through the session. Each swirl builds the foam back up. Lacing is equally thick and coating.

S. Freshly baked bread, orange zest, pumpernickel, lots of cherry and fig, brown sugar, molasses, and even some red wine.

T. Hearty bread crust, stone fruit, hints of chocolate, clove, banana, pear. Very malty and complex.

M. Low to moderate carb with a wonderfully complex flavor profile. It's big and it's sweet, but the alcohol is very well hidden and it has a great balance.

O. It's not particularly distinctive other than its all around excellence. It's a beautifully done weizenbock and hits every note in high form. It's a rounded yet complex example of the style, with bright fruit, phenol, and banana notes and a toasty malt bill. Very very enjoyable, and a cool experiment by the Bruery in revisiting Patrick's homebrew recipes. Would love to see what other things they can recreate from his cookbook.

From 03/26/14 notes. Poured from a 750ml bottle into my Bruery tulip.

a - Pours a deep brown color with a light reddish tint, one finger of light tan head and moderate carbonation evident. Spotty lacing on the glass.

s - Smells of bready malts, grains, bananas, dough, wheat, yeast, spices, and light sour fruits. Quite nice, ther light sourness is pretyt good.

t - Tastes of bready malts, bananas, yeast, spices, biscuit, toasted malts, caramel malts, cloves, and wheat. More bananas as it warms and than the nose had. Better than the nose in my opinion.

m - Medium body and moderate to high carbonation. Slightly too carbonated.

o - Overall an interesting German style beer and pretty nice. Nothing mind blowing but quite good. Worth checking out.
