Style: Weizenbock

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.70%

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Notes / Commercial Description:
Shegöat is a brand new beer to our lineup, based on one of Patrick's original, multiple award winning homebrew recipes. Based primarily on the traditional weizenbock style of Germany, brewed with both malted barley and wheat, the beer is rich in the flavors of bananas, cloves and caramel with a notes of cake spice hovering in the background. Just like the banana bread that großmutter used to make.

Poured to an oversized wine glass.

A: The body is brown and very opaque. The head is white to beige with a good retention.
S: The aroma is filled with Belgian candi and lightly roasted malts.
T: The taste is very sweet at first, due to the Belgian Candi. In the end, a long roasted profile fills your throat and mouth. It's perfect.
M: The body is high. Carbonation is perfect. Sweetness is a bit too high.
O: First Briery I guess, loving this so far.

Poured from 2 pint bottle into standard pint glass. No bottle or freshness date.

L: Dark amber, two finger tan head.

S: Bubblegum, sweet fruits, yeast, clove, vanilla, alcohol.

T: Quite similar to a Belgian Strong Ale, very sweet taste, bubblegum, dried fruits, vanilla.

F: Medium body, medium carbonation.

O: Kind of disappointed but I think I am more disappointed in the style and not the actual beer.

With a ruby-mahogany color, it has a fruity bubblegum butterscotch taste with a subtle dried fruit aftertaste. Very well balanced throughout! As we get to the bottom, it builds up more flavors of vanilla and butterscotch with some dried fruits. A fantastically made beer for a style I wish many breweries can still make! Until there will be a time this beer won't be a one-and-done special, I recommend the Teufel Bock from Atwater Brewery.

750ml into a snifter. The brew appears a murky brown color with a khaki cap that shows decent retaining power.

This smells like belgian candy sugar mixed with yeasty notes of clove l, bubblegum and vanilla with a faint chocolate roasted grain backing.

The taste is fruity like pear and apple with a spice of clove rounded out with flavors of original bubblegum and candy sugar sweetness blending to caramel malt.

This is medium bodied and modestly carbonated. Overall a pretty solid brew. It is a refreshing change of pace to have a normal, adjunct-free brew from this brewery.

Burgundy body with a thin, off-white collar. Wheat, grain, dark fruit, alcohol aroma. Dark fruits, raisins, brown sugar, cough syrup, perhaps a hint of raspberry or black cherry. Syrupy body with Sodt carbonation. As this is on the sweet side, a small pour is plenty.

First bottle of the night for #bottlecherwednesdays at Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach. 750ml poured into tulip. Liquid is reddish brown with some cloudiness, a tall tan head forms than fades slowly to a film. Streaks of lace are left behind. Aroma is caramel, banana, clove, and spice cake. Taste is medium-high sweet with caramel and fruity esters. A small amount of spicy bitterness comes on the swallow. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, slightly bitter finish with lingering sweetness.
