Large shared bottle.
Boozy sweet aroma with the alcohol more hidden in the taste.
Very sweet, this drinks like a beer liqueur. Rather subtle rum flavor.
Moderate complexity at best.

A: Poured into a snifter to a deep brown topped by a finger of dense light tan head that fades quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass leaving minimal lacing
S: Smells of rum, spices and oak with some caramel sweetness hidden in the back end. dark fruits hiding in here as well.
T: Taste is rum and oak, spices, dark fruits and caramel. Good bit of barrel presence on this one with the oak notes. Swallow is molasses, rum, oak, slight vanilla, caramel and dark fruits.
M: Full bodied in the mouth with soft carbonation and a dry finish
O: A surprisingly good twist on the original. The rum adds some nice complementary dimensions and helps to balance out the sweetness in the base beer. I only picked up two but I somewhat wish I would have gotten more.

A-Black in the glass with a one finger off white head.

S-A lot of rum. Too much of it. And booze as well. Some roasted malt and dark fruits but there is this lingering smoked meat, almost like ham flavor.

T-Similar to the nose. Too much rum and too much of a smoked meat flavor. Both of which hurt any other flavors that are there.

M-Medium to heavy, not much carbonation.

O-Another meh Rum barrel aged beer. But the worst part was the smoked meat/beef jerky like flavor that did not seem to go well with the rest of the beer.

Bronze wax capped 750mL bottle acquired through the Bruery's Society. Bottled 3/20/14. Served in a Bruery snifter.

Pours copper with a half finger beige cap that fades to a thin halo without leaving any lace.

Smells of toffee, rum, oak, sugar cane, molasses and a little fusel alcohol. The rum comes through nicely and makes the aroma even sweeter than the standard bourbon version.

Sweet, boozy rum is a prevelant flavor throughout. Plenty of layers underneath- oak, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, molasses, cane sugar, funky sweet Bruery house yeast and a formidable booze precense. A sweet, boozy, beautiful blend.

Sryupy thick feel with supple carbonation. The finish is rather hot with rum, toffee and dark fruits.

What The Bruery is proving with so many Sucré barrel variants is that their anniversary old ale is a perfect candidate for barrel aging. Each spirit brings it's own unique character but the base beer doesn't get covered up. The rum comes through boozy and sweet here. Another great take on their barrel aged old ale.
