2015 vintage

L - Pours a cloudy golden body with a one finger eggshell head. Somewhat good retention on the head with not much lacing on the glass.

S - Nose is definitely pilsner forward with some grainy rice and faint coconut.

T - I can see the imperial aspect in the taste. A ramped up pilsner with a sweeter body (though not cloying) and it has that grainy rice and coconut undertones.

F - Medium bodied and medium carbonation. Has a crisp mouthfeel.

O - For me, any pilsner with adjuncts, much less an imperial pilsner with adjuncts is just hard to shake the overwhelming pilsner aspect of the beer. It's a good beer in it's own right though.

750ml bottle poured into a tulip pint. The brew appears a hazy pale golden color with a white cap that fades leaving spotty lace.

Aroma is herbal and carbonic. Slight citrus and sweetness like vanilla.

Taste is herbal with hops with slight tropical fruit flavoring before mild coconut and sweetness almost like vanilla.

Medium in body with modest carbonation. This is unique and actually quite enjoyable. Happy to say that most hoppy things ive had from the Bruery were a hit...kinda makes me wish they did more hoppy experiments.

Interesting brew here w/ the rice + coconut adjuncts. I also wish I could've tried it a little fresher, rather than this 5 month old bottle. In any case, it's a pleasantly hazy yellow/peach color, with a bit of foam and some nice lacing. Smell when cold was more citrus than coconut, with maybe some light lager yeast. Taste is interesting too, not what I'd call pilsnery, definitely no pils malt influence, must be the use of the rice, which gives it a full body and some real texture, more lightly floral, some citrus, and then, as it warms, the faintest hint of coconut in the finish. Not a bad brew, but it feels like there's a lot of moving pieces that never entirely get in sync.

Bottle into wine glass. Clear deap straw in color and a bit green. Light cap of near white foam lingers briefly. Aroma of lemony hops and a bit of pils malt. Flavor cotinues in greenness with some wheat twang to add to a light hop aroma.

Pleasant yet a bit subdued at first, adding a bit with warming though still light in hop aroma. Grassy but rather devoid of any coconut notes as advertised. OK, a touch of faint coconut on the tongue with warming and a delicate sense of taste. Not that I'm looking for a Pina Colada by any means. Still this beer, while perfectly acceptable, doesn't match it's own profile.

A solid and intriguing Pils though needs pondering. Lacks any coconut promised but solid nonetheless.

750ml bottle poured into an oversized wine glass

A- pours bright clear golden with a creamy white head that retains nicely

S- smells of coconut, rice & lager yeast, slightly toasted

T- light and toasty up front with some lager yeast, light fruit hop mid-palate, finish of pina colada

M- medium body with light carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a crisp finish

O- pretty neutral for the most part, but the coconut does come through nicely on the finish

A: poured into a Pilsner glass to a clear straw colored yellow with a dense two finger white head that retains well and has good lacing
S: smells of tropical fruit, citrusy and grassy with some clean pale malt aroma. Surprised not to get any coconut.
T: taste is grassy hops, some citrus and a little coconut. Lots of hop flavor and decent bitterness on this one. Nice clean maltyness as well. Swallow is a nice bit of oily citrusy hops with some lingering tropical fruit.
M: this beer has a medium weight on the palate with slightly prickly carbonation and a slightly dry finish
O: Overall this is a pretty good Imperial Pils. This is well done beer. I thought it would be a pretty goofy or gimmicky but it drinks really well.

750mL bottle acquired through The Bruery's Society. Bottled 9/3/15. Served in a Bruery snifter.

Pours flat, pale, yellow hay with two and a half fingers of fluffy white head. Plenty of retention with a thick layer of residual froth, a full belt and large swaths of lacing.

Smells of crackery malt, hay, faint coconut, hints of tropical fruit and earthy hops. Bready malts pretty much dominate but there are some subtle intricacies that make the aroma a little more interesting.

Taste follows the nose. Cracker, pilsner malt, hay, mild earthy hop, faint citrus zest, vague tropical fruit pulp and some banana. I'm sensing very little going on to differentiate this from most available pilsners.

Crisp, medium light body with popping carbonation. Bready finish with a slight earthy bitterness.

Arrrggghhh! is a decent pilsner but doesn't quite deliver the coconut that I was hoping would make this special. But this is easy enough to drink and won't disappoint if you are in the mood for a pilsner.
