Humulus Rueuze is a variation on our take on the traditional Belgian-style lambic gueuze with one major exception: massive amounts of dry hops. To begin, we carefully select a number of oak barrels that have been aging our sour blonde ale for anywhere from several months to several years, and then blend the beers together for the ideal flavor. Once that is achieved, we pile heaps of Hallertau Blanc hops on top to achieve an aromatic blend like no other, inundating the senses with citrusy, tropical, funky and grassy goodness. This is one complex beer, and it's best consumed fresh.

750 ml bottle, 2022 vintage, couldn't find the bottled on date for this one. Label says 5.9% ABV. Served in a Teku, the beer pours a slightly hazy gold color with about an inch and a half white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. I like the aroma, the brew smells like tart lemon, oak, funk, grassiness and some tropical fruit. I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also some apple vinegar, vanilla and bready malt flavors noticeable too. Lots of tartness in this brew! Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and smooth with a good amount of carbonation. I liked this sour blonde ale, definitely worth picking up if you like tart/sour brews!

Bottled 10/22/15 and enjoyed on 7/20/21. Somehow this held up really well. I understand the base beer lasting this long but when it’s dry-hopped, this is a surprise. You still get that vegetal and earthy hop flavor in the finish after the funk and tartness of the yeast and the depth of the oak barrels. Delicious.

Had this at the taphouse back in February I believe. Pours a blonde ale with some obscured haze and whatnot, light haze, this isn't orange juice full on pulp territory here. White head, 1/4". Aroma was far more hoppy than I expected, but also featured a pronounced white oak kind of influence paired with all those big green honeydew melon notes from the hops.

Taste made me think of the greatest homebrew I've ever had. It was a smoky dry hopped gueuze. This beer has the hops and the gueuze, such a difficult and complex thing to put together, hops inhibit the growth of the bugs that make a gueuze a gueuze for the most part. And yet here it works quite well. Sour blonde base is a no frills excursion that displays the oak nicely and makes it seem brighter. The sourness is right around a 6 on the 10 pt scale and doesn't dominate all other aspects of the beer, they play nice together and in harmony. Mouth feel finishes dry and bretty. Alternative developments of citrus and mint even. Complex stuff that is easy to drink. Love it.
