At his core, Frederick H. embodies some of the elements you’d expect in a Berliner Weisse-style beer, such as a tart flavor profile from lactobacillus, a hint of brettanomyces and traditionally low ABV. He gets a little racy though, and gains even more funky and earthy notes from house cultures and fermentation in our oak foeders at Bruery Terreux. After nature takes its course, Frederick H. emerges with a bright, refreshing body, palate-cleansing tartness and au naturel rawness.

750 ml bottle, looks like the bottle date is 10/31/1-something (cant tell what the other number is). It's the older style Bruery Terreux label so I know it's got some age to it, hoping it aged well! Served in a Teku, the beer pours an orange/copper color with not quite an inch off-white head that didn't stay around for too long. Small amount of lacing. The brew smells tart, like apricot, oak, green apple and wheat/grainy malt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some sweet apple cider, vanilla and earthy flavors. Still mostly tart but with some sweet and earthiness noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is light, it's slick and easy to drink with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. It's still tasting good now but I do wonder what it would have been like fresher.

I’ve had a 750 of this for a while now, and even though it’s super light in alcohol I still wanted to split it with a friend who likes sours. Let’s see how this oaked Berliner treats us
Pours a cloudy copper orange with a finger of white head that quickly fades to a thin ring and leaves no lacing
This is pretty tart in the nose, even for the style. I’m picking up on aromas of lemon rind, lactic acid, sharp oak, apple skin, and soft wheat
Hot damn, this is almost aggressively tart in taste. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting soft wheat, doughy malt, lemon rind, and white pepper. The swallow brings a quick flash of intense sour, bringing notes of lemon juice, crackery malt, sharp oak, white wine, and light peppery hops
A light body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a super crisp and tart beer. Finishes mostly dry with a crisp breadiness
Great stuff here, but definitely odd and aggressive for the style. I’d get it again

A 750ml bottle, bottled on 17th February 2017. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.

Aroma: Tart, peach, apricot, wheat, lemon zest, with notes of apple cider.
Taste: Sour, tart, apricot, apple peel, apple cider vinegar, with notes of wheat, oak, and lemon peel.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied with moderate to high carbonation.
Overall: Very nice and refreshing. Great for a hot summers day.

Pours a white, three-finger head that vanishes and leaves no lace, some yeast left in bottle. Clear amber color. Good carbonation and light-medium bodied. Tart apple and yeast nose, flavor is tart apple. 750ml bottle was a gift.

Poured from a bomber into a snifter, after sitting in the refrigerator for a couple of days. Beer is a burnt orange color with a small head that dissipates into no head at all. Smell is definitely sour, mostly by the yeast (Brett and Lacto) which dominate the scent, but is not overly funky. Taste is like sour apples, and yeast. Feel is light with high carbonation, a very refreshing feel overall.
Overall beer is very refreshing, a good beer for summertime consumption.

Mouth-feel: Light-bodied with a fairly generous level of carbonation.
Overall: A good Berliner Weisse that makes for a nice refreshing drink.
