Style: Berliner Weissbier

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.40%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
At his core, Frederick H. embodies some of the elements you’d expect in a Berliner Weisse-style beer, such as a tart flavor profile from lactobacillus, a hint of brettanomyces and traditionally low ABV. He gets a little racy though, and gains even more funky and earthy notes from house cultures and fermentation in our oak foeders at Bruery Terreux. After nature takes its course, Frederick H. emerges with a bright, refreshing body, palate-cleansing tartness and au naturel rawness.

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass. Slightly cloudy yellow color with a brief head and little lacing. The smell is subdued but of tart fruit. The taste is tart and refreshing. Nice beer for lunch.

Sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2017, red session. Aroma is tart, a bit malty with a hint of honey. Taste is tart, quite clean with a generic lactic/sour mash character.

750 ml bottle poured into a tulip

A: Pours a clear honey orange with no head nor lacing, lots of carbonation

A: Very sour, green apple tartness, vinegar, finish is very dry with green apple tartness and vinegar sourness lingering in the aftertaste.

M: Light bodied with a good amount of carbonation and a very dry finish.

O: This one is on the more sour end of the spectrum, perhaps more than other berliner weissbiers I've tasted, it's very good and I'd definitely pick up another bottle, it's very drinkable and quenches the thirst very well.

A: Poured into a goblet to a bright and clear light gold topped by a half finger of dense white head that fades quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of creamy wheat, lactic tarness with a little lemon and some hints of grapes.
T: Taste is bright lemony acidity with some creamy wheat along with some slight hints of funk, The tartness really dominates on the palate but the body of the beer does play a nice supporting role. The swallow brings more tartness and creamy wheat along with a little funk and a slight hint of oak.
M: This beer is fairly light on body but I would not consider it to be watery. The carbonation is slightly prickly and the beer has a drying finish from the acidity.
O: This is a really nice beer with some great flavors. It's a little simplistic but a little more time may have brought out some other flavors. Flavorful for the ABV and what they did with it and a quality berliner that is worth a try if you're into the style.

First had Terreux Frederick H. poured from a 25.4-oz. bomber into a footless tulip. This beer is absolutely on style in appearance, and nearly overwhelmingly tart.
