2012
Name: Share This OC
Brewery: The Bruery
Location: Placentia, CA
Style: Barrel Aged Imperial Stout
ABV: 13.5%
Date: 2017
I am drinking Share This OC using a Tulip glass. I served it at 50 degrees. The pour created a creamy, two-fingered, light tan head with average retention. The color is dark brown with ruby highlights, charting around SRM 24. The beer is opaque and comes with a carbonation bubble on the top. The appearance is above average for this style. The bottle has bits left inside the dark green bottle. The retention is above average.
The initial aromas are bready, vanilla beans, caramel, raisins, bourbon, orange, and oak. Nosing the glass again, I smell toffee, molasses, coffee, earthiness, chocolate, lightly burnt sugar, and subtle char. Swirling and the glass, I pick up on light oxidation, Maillard, smoke, soy sauce, and a touch of floral esters. The orange is slightly muted, with substantial whiskey notes.
The malt is bready, and toasted cereal grains. The dried fruit of raisins and figs gives the beer a subtle sweetness. Molasses, caramel, and toffee also aid in the sweetness. Bourbon barrel aging shows whiskey flavors, char, oak, and light orange; barrel aging tempers the big ABV. The alcohol is there slightly overbearing.
The mouthfeel is warming, and the thick finishes are creamy. The body is medium-plus and low carbonation.
So far, my favorite Share this was Mole. The orange flavors and aromas have faded. Yet the whiskey notes have not; it is a bit harsh and warming. Generally, beers this high in ABV from The Brurey are well hidden. Again, I am not enjoying this beer.

2017 vintage. Poured from a foil topped bomber into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Dark, dark pour.. nearly black with a thin off-white head. Modest lacing.
S: Roast, cocoa, espresso, and a hint of citrus.
T.F: Just like it smells. Rich and roasty... grains and chocolate. Some sweetness up front... bitterness for balance later. Coffee notes... citrus lighter than expected (not a bad thing), vanilla, and zest. Spice and some dark fruit. Medium bodied... hides its booze. Smooth and creamy. Medium carbonation.
O: A solid 'Share This' iteration from the Bruery. 4 years in the cellar may have softened the citrus a bit. Enjoyable brew.

Shared 750 ml bottle. Black colour, tan head. Aroma of roast malts, dust, chocolate, hints of orange peel. Lovely flavour, notes of orange-chocolate, but not too sweet. Well balanced.

A: Poured into a snifter to a black beer topped by a soapy and rocky two finger tan head which fades quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing.
S: Smells of chocolate and roasted malts with a touch of coffee and a hint of orange.
T: Taste is chocolate with a touch of vanilla, roasted malts, a little coffee, and a hint of orange zest. On the swallow there's more oranges, chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, and a touch of vanilla.
M: This beer is fairly full in body with a slightly syrupy feel on the palate. Carbonation is somewhat low feeling but also effervescent while the beer has a drying finish.
O: Overall this is a pretty tasty beer. I wish I would have pulled one of these sooner to see how well the vanilla popped when it was fresh but it's still a fine beer. The beer has some nice flavors and a good amount of complexity without showing any faults.

A 750ml bottle, 2017 edition. Poured into a snifter glass.
Appearance: Black in colour with a one finger brown head that had decent retention and left lots of spotty lacing.
Aroma: Roasty, dark chocolate, cacao, coffee, with notes of vanilla and citrus zest.
Taste: Much like the aroma, roasted malts, dark chocolate, cacao, coffee, vanilla, and orange notes.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, medium to full bodied, with soft carbonation.
Overall: An excellent Imperial Stout with great roast and chocolate flavours. The orange citrus notes also complement the chocolate well. I do wonder whether due to the age of the bottle (three years), any of the adjuncts have toned down a bit, but the chocolate to citrus proportion is great right now.

Beer bottled in early March of 2020, opened in mid August of 2020.
L-Poured into a tulip glass. Thick and dark. Almost pitch black.
S-Sweet and buttery cracker, chocolate, vanilla, butterscotch, and imperial soy sauce. Some orange is there as well. I get it to an extent, but not overly so. Overall very autumnal or even wintery.
T-Sweet molasses, butterscotch, chocolate and vanilla right up front. Slight coffee like bitterness at the end with a smooth finish. Very nice.
F-Thick. Very low carbonation.
O-Another solid beer from the Bruery. Nothing life-changing but very well crafted stout and a great one to "share". I would try it again.

Split with JLindros.
A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark brown almost black with fat mocha head that fades to leave light lacing and a dense creamy blanket.
S - Aromas of almost artificial chocolate, syrupy and sweet. The orange is nonexistent.
T - Taste is similar to the nose, super creamy milk chocolate, thick and luscious. The orange is really non-existent. The finish is lightly bitter and acrid but the chocolate is really pleasant.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, creamy, alcohol hidden nicely.
O - Overall this was a solid enough stout. That orange was non-existent, however, the creamy chocolate was pleasant.

750ml Bottle from Brewdog.com (£8.40):
This one was quite a thick, opaque black & oily looking beer with a thin surface lacing that's beige but has a few bubbles around the circumference plus a little lacing on the sides too. The nose is strong with plenty of dark malts & some alcohol, dark chocolate & a little vanilla sweetness alongside hints of oak. The taste is very similar with lots of oak, vanilla & chocolate & there's a tiny bit of orange right at the end too, it was a little unusual though. It's definitely a boozy beer with most of the alcohol seemingly showing, it's quite warming & thick with a smooth, full body but the nose wasn't the strongest but the taste was & it's definitely one to take your time with.

Very tasty winter warmer. Big notes of bitter dark chocolate and orange peel backed by vanilla. Licorice allsorts on the nose. Enjoyed it very much all to myself (share this pffft) over a rainy afternoon in front of the footy.

Anthracite; orange blossom, dark chocolate, cigar smoke, deep vanilla, cocoa, a ton of pure vanilla, vague orange + some roast; medium-full, smooth.

Orange, cocoa, + vanilla
Deep, round, real. But nothing cuts across the vanilla, so it plays too sweet. Desserty + not overly candied for it, yet - considering the brewery - not quite transcendent, either.
