Growler into pint glass. Pours an inky black with a thin medium-tan head. Initial impression is expresso, molasses, bourbon, dark chocolate, and booze. Mouthfeel is superb. Finish is strongly laced with coffee. Wicked easy to drink!

Look - Motor oil black that left the glass stained. One finger brown head on first pour.
Smell - Bourbon, coffee, roast, chocolate.
Taste - The bourbon flavor increased exponentially as I savored this beer. Bitter coffee was very pronounced on the finish despite being a year and a half since canning. The stout had underlying notes of dark roasted malt and chocolate. I was shocked at how easy it was to drink.
Feel - It felt slick to me, but still coated the palate. Nicely carbonated with a full mouthfeel.
Overall - It took me a few sips to adjust, but after that I was fully engrossed with So Happens It's Tuesday - Coffee. It's always a delight to find that the last few sips of a beer are even more delicious than the first. This is instantly among the best BBA coffee stouts I've ever had.

11/08/18 stamp. Served in a large snifter. Stored cold for about a year.

A: Black with short cap of beige head leaving no lace.

S: Sweet bourbon, espresso, burnt raisin, roast

T: Flavor is a step down from the aroma due to the old black coffee flavor in the finish. The bourbon barrel treatment and imperial stout portions are delicious, a good mixture of sweetness, roast and dark maltiness. The coffee portion supports until the aftertaste where the coffee flavor is old slightly burned black coffee.

M: Drinks like an 8% ABV beer — smooth, creamy with alcohol well-hidden.

O: Probably held onto it too long and maybe that’s why the coffee flavor is so twangy.

Dark brown, near black color. Small tan head that quickly disappears.
Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and bourbon.
Taste is chocolate and coffee, then more chocolate and coffee, with a finish of bourbon. Chocolate is both sweet and dark.
Rich and smooth. It doesn't feel like 14.7% ABV.

16 ounce can into snifter, canned on 11/8/2018. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy tan head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, roasted nuts, biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, date, smoke, charred oak, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Slight booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, bourbon barrels, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with big strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, roasted nuts, biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, date, smoke, charred oak, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Mild herbal, grassy, roast, chared bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, roasted nuts, biscuit, dark/brown bread/crust, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, charred oak, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, bourbon barrels, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with an awesome roasted bitter/sweet, and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/roast/char bitterness, and bourbon/oak spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mild increasing warmth of 14.7%, with no lingering barrel booze after the finish. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged imperial coffee stout! All around amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, bourbon barrels, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV, with the mildly bitter/tannic/drying finish. Amazingly soft feel; not overly boozy/tannic on barrels, or bitter/charred on malts. Perfectly balanced between super rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee complexity, and bourbon barrel presence/integration; with mild fruity yeast, and earthy hops. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Just as amazing as the base beer, but a lot less boozy/intense on barrels than when I had that one yeasrs ago. A highly enjoyable offering, and top tier style example all around.

Pitch black with a finger of fast dissipating, ruddy beige head.

Smells of fresh roasted coffee, malt syrup, black liquorice, soy sauce, and umami.

Tastes of fresh roasted black coffee, molasses, brown sugar, and black liquorice.

Medium to thick, syrupy body, with little carbonation.

For a can that cost $16, I was expecting more. I got this in San Francisco, and am drinking it in Redding, Jan 31st, 2019. Not getting any bourbon barrel on this one.

Pours black with caramel-colored foam. Foam forms large and bubbly and fizzles away moderately quick. Aroma is big and boozy - with char and bourbon ripping right through the front end. Medium-roast coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa nibs, vanilla bean, and roasty, toasty, caramely malts surviving the initial heatwave to round out the aroma. Flavor profile is medium-roast coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa nibs, vanilla bean, molasses and toffee as sweet to mildly bitter flavor complexities. Roasty and toasty malts round out the base, forming a firm foundation. Bourbon with a heavy hint of char add some heat that swells on the back of the tongue. Downside in the aroma is a hint of butter, although not close to AMC popcorn levels, yet it still hints at excessive levels of diacetyl. Mouth feel is medium-thick to thick pending temperature (40F to 50F respectively). It has a smooth, glossy texture that develops just a hint of creaminess as it warms. Overall, big and boozy, but that's no shock based on the label and brewer's history. It's nearing 15% and it shows in every aspect. Coffee is quality, coming off well executed and folded in beautifully.

“So Happens It’s Tuesday with Coffee” -- Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels with Coffee Added, The Bruery

Canned on 11/8/2018. Consumed on 1/28/2019 in a tulip glass.

Look
Exceptionally dark brown -- nearly black -- with a tan head that quickly dissipates into a ring. Minimal lacing.

Smell
Expresso. Dark chocolate. Dark cherry.

Taste
Just like it smells, yet somehow better. Is like drinking a boozy, dark chocolate cherry Godiva bar. Coffee is so strong you’ll think a shot of expresso was dropped into your stout. What else? Sure, I could talk about the bourbon, roasted malts with hints of vanilla, oak, and caramel, blah, blah, blah -- but this stout is all about its coffee and chocolate.

Feel
Surprisingly thin for an imperial stout, and well-carbonated. Finishes with booze, but at 14.6% its alcohol is well-hidden. Eminently drinkable.

Overall
Absolutely, positively delicious. Perhaps the most coffee-forward stout I’ve ever tasted, to the extent I was wondering if the caffeine would keep me up! So sweet, could be considered a dessert beer. I would drink this every day if I could, but is nice to save for special occasions. Get it while you can.

L: Poured from a tallboy can to a pint glass. Had a jet black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a half inch of creamy, tan-colored, somewhat long-lasting head. Not much lacing to speak of.

S: A very enticing aroma of chocolate, malt, coffee, bourbon, vanilla, and a creamy quality.

T: Tasted of a good shot of bourbon (and its accompanying oak barrels), some malt (present throughout), lots of chocolate, a moderate amount of coffee, light vanilla notes, and some of the creamy quality. This is a robust, powerful, and complex flavor. The coffee may be in the name, but the chocolate is the star here. Extremely delicious.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a silky smooth, warm finish. Full-bodied.

O: A wholly enjoyable, easy to drink stout. Drinkable.

This beer smelled awesome, like a coffee overdose. The problem arises with the taste. The original beer is very fruit forward, like a dark plum, grape, raisin, etc, flavor. Another stout that highlights dark fruit flavors is Boulevard's dark truth. They are good beers, but.....they align better with certain flavors. A roasty or chocolaty stout melds perfectly with coffee. A dark fruit emphasized stout does not, IMO.

I prefer the original beer in this instance, as coffee is not complimentary to the flavors of the base beer. The beer is not bad, but I will certainly not buy another at $17 a can.
