So I was slightly disappointed to see that this isn't the barrel aged version of the coffee share this (the best share this beer), but instead, was just another barrel aged stout from the Bruery.

Pours black, tan head 2/5". Aroma is pretty layered, usual suspects of wood, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, roasted malt/coffee like notes. Smells the part. And there is a little bit of dark fruit notes to it as well.

Taste follows the Bruery mold, its huge, but in a relatively restrained kind of So Happens Its Tuesday kind of vibe. Keeps the charred barrel and malt note moving forward and in a much bigger way than that slight dark fruit bitter note. Dark chocolate effect without using the adjunct. Weird they donate wheelchairs to those in need outside (as opposed to American citizens) the country. Not really weird, this is California, where there is literally a million people in need to choose from. Either way, doing good is good. Medium level thickness and carbonation.

A typical barrel aged beer but from the Brurey. I am a fan of the Brurey and what they are doing there. The beer is 50 degrees and served in a tulip glass. A hard pour in the glass produced a one finger head. The dissipated quickly and left no trace of its existences. The head was a medium brown and foamy. The color of the beer is SRM 37 a dark brown nearly black and opaque.

The aromas in the beer are wood, molasses, raisins, dark chocolate, dark roasted coffee, roasted malts, burnt sugar, char, toffee, bready, yeast, wood, vanilla, bourbon, alcohol, earthy, anise, and smoke.

The flavors in the beer are oak, herbal, raisins, dark chocolate, espresso, roasted malts, burnt sugar, char, toffee, bready, anise, smoke, bourbon, citrus, vanilla, wood, caramel, toffee, earthy, and smoke.

The mouthfeel of the beer is chewy and thick.

The body of the beer is full, low carbonation, and a full finish.

The beer is good, nothing spectacular. The beer could age in a cellar for an ample amount of time. It will help with the balance in the beer.

A: Poured into a snifter to a black beer topped by a dense finger of deep tan head which fades to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of bourbon barrels with notes of caramel, oak, and vanilla with roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate.
T: Taste is nice barrel notes up front with some bitter dark chocolate, light coffee, slight molasses, caramel and vanilla. Swallow is more chocolate, molasses, coffee, oak, caramel, and vanilla.
M: Overall this beer is on the heavier side of medium in body. Feels kind of thin for the style to be honest. Carbonation is a little more lively than necessary as well but not prickly. The beer has a drying finish from the ABV.
O: Overall this is a great beer. It has all those standard flavors you expect in a BA stout and they all are fairly well balanced. My only complaint is that this one may drink a little 'boring' but that isn't a bad thing. Definitely one to try and a good benchmark for the style.

Bottle into a snifter appears black with khaki head.

An aroma of black licorice, chocolate liquor and some oak.

This tastes of anise, chocolate, roast, earth and oak.

Its medium in body with modest carbonation. A decent brew but not something I needto have again.
