Notes: Mark well what you see here, mateys. This ain’t no ordinary tale or ale. Designed and destined for ye heartier souls, this spiced, autumn ale is filled to the brim with barrel-aged character from its voyage in bourbon and rum barrels. Brewed with yams, maple syrup, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger and allspice, with a dash of barleywine flare, ‘tis the motherload of flavors to fly under the flag of Captain Rue.

Split with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice clearish mahogany hue with a thin head that fades to leave light wisps.

S - Big aromas of bourbon, vanilla, molasses, spices, maple. Nice light spicy rum. Nice yam sweetness.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with lots of sweet yam and maple. Nice bourbon and rum, vanilla is smooth and pleasant. Good lighter spice as well. No discernable alcohol.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, little crisp, light alcohol flavour but no burn.

O - Overall this was a very solid beer with surprisingly balanced barrel notes. Really nice.

Light fizzy head, not much retention but descent lacing, dark but slightly clear auburn color little ruby

Nose is a hodgepodge, boozy, big raw molasses, maple candies, yams, sweet potatoes and marshmallow, raw earthy vanilla and some bourbon, lots of spices, spiced rum,

Taste is nice, vanilla, buttery oak and spiced rum, mild yam sweet potato, more molasses and maple syrup, little bourbon note, mild candied date, toasted malts, mild smooth warming alcohol, mild sweet finish, lingering peppery alcohol, little bitterness

Mouth is fuller bod, mild smooth warming alcohol

Overall not bad, better than I expected, the characters were blended well, nothing too overwhelming

Maroon foil capped 750mL bottle acquired through The Bruery’s Society. Bottled 10/2/17. Served in a Bruery snifter. Enjoyed 2/27/18.

Pours a deep burgundy, near opaque with three fingers of cream hued head. The bubbles recede, leaving some shallow froth on the top and a narrow collar but no lacing.

Aromas of rum-candied yams, vanilla-tinged bourbon, baking spices, wet wood and maple syrup.

Boozey sweet flavors of rum, spiced wet oak, molasses yams, lightly maple sweetened caramel, cooked sugar, earthy vanilla and good bit of alcohol.

Smooth, almost creamy, medium full feel with loose carbonation. The finish is like rum/ bourbon glazed molasses maple yams with a little spice.

The Bruery delivers a quality amped-up fall seasonal. Tell No Tales drinks like Autumn Maple’s double barreled big brother.

A: Poured into a snifter to a ruddy brown topped by a finger of soapy off white head which fades quickly to a collar around the edge of hte glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of yams, rum barrel, spices, vanilla, cola, and a little toffee.
T: Taste is heavy rum barrel and spice with some yams, caramel and vanilla, oak, and molasses. Swallow is more rum barrel, spices, and yams with lingering toffee, caramel, and vanilla with a touch of maple sweetness.
M: This beer is on the heavier side of medium in body that also feels a little syrupy. Carbonation is just below prickly and the beer has a semi-dry finish. The ABV tries to dry things out but the vast amount of residual sugar keeps this one on the refreshing side.
O: Overall this is an interesting beer. It definitely tastes like it hit the flavor profile they were looking for. Nice balance of sweet and spice with plenty of complexity to boot. Worth a try if you like rum barrels and beers with a lot of spice to them.

Bottle into a snifter appears a clear mahogany with khaki colored cap.

It smells boozy with caramel, molasses, oak and vanilla.

It tastes just as boozy with the previously mentioned caramel, vanilla and molasses with a touch of spice and vegetative yam.

This is full bodied and lightly carbonated. This was an easy one and done for me. They say it was rum barrel aged but I couldnt tell amongst all the other junk going on in it. It ends up just being another boozy bruery beer with a holiday/seasonal theme/description.
