While I do agree with the BA's who describe this beer as thin for a barrel-aged stout, I dont think it detracts from the overall experience. In my opinion, A LOT of coconut beers end up coming off too sweet...but its almost a false sugar sort of taste, kind of like saccharine. I found this beer to have just the right amount of both sweetness and coconut flavor. If anything, Id say its lacking a little extra oomph from the barrel but, to me, its not noticeable enough for me to downgrade the beer any.

Smooth, rich, definitely a sipper and perfect for a chilly night. Recommended.

16 oz. can dated 10/25/18. Poured into Kane chalice and let warm.

L: Dark black. Nearly 2F light tan head with minimal lacing, but a persistent cap and ring.

S: A little bit of bourbon barrel and vanilla, but a metallic tang cuts through all of it. Not much in the way of coconut.

T: Fortunately the metallic part doesn't come through in the taste. Vanilla and oak barrel, roasted malts, and maybe just a hint of toasted coconut (I've been warned that is one of the shortest lasting flavors post-brewing). Not too sweet and overall the macaroon combination nearly gets there at the end.

F: Pretty full-bodied, not much carbonation. Construction and balance are eh.

O: It's a good idea, but it's not quite there.

Poured 16oz can into a snifter. A dark brown color with a 2 finger tan head with decent retention and thin lacing on my glass. Aroma was strong chocolate and malt with faint coconut, vanilla and barrel. The taste is sweet chocolate, caramel stout sprinkled with coconut. The barrel is faint aIong with the vanilla. Feel is heavy and with some syrup like viscosity and medium carbonation. This was definitely a pastry stout that is sweet, but I wanted more coconut.

A nice, full-bodied, viscous dessert stout. Dark brown, tan head, nice blend of coconut and vanilla underscored by bourbon barrel aging. It's called Bakery, and blessed with a 13% ABV, so it is to be savored after dinner, and before a merciful lights out. Only quibble: Let it lay in the glass too long, and it will get boozy.

16oz can, snifter glass. Dark black body, one and half finger light brown head, good retention, plenty of lacing. Smell is lightly toasted coconut, vanilla frosting, milk chocolate, cocoa. Sweet brown sugar, and of course the white sugary kind. Flavour follows, nice coconut and vanilla, sweet and fairly sugary, but not preposterously so. Light whiskey, nice vanillin, good carbonation, medium body, smooth sweetness, and reasonably drinkable for a 13% stout.

A sweet, toasty, and roasty imperial stout, with delectable notes of coconut and vanilla. Sweet brown sugar and bourbon mash are felt throughout in what is clearly a dessert stout - but gives no notice of the 13% ABV.
