Notes: This blend of barrel-aged and fresh ale presents a more quaffable version of our weizenbock.

From the big bottle in a snifter. This solid little weizenbock pours a muddled
dark murky brown with a decent head of light khaki foam that subsides to a
thick ring, thin subtle pool, and shows light lacing. Nose of raisin, subtle banana,
subtle rum and bourbon notes, and hints of vanilla and oak. Flavors surpass the
nose with aplomb. Light bourbon and rum mingles with oak and vanilla notes
over a dark breaded malt with raisin and light banana touches with a hint of
clove and dark brown sugars. Touches of chocolate and anise show with warmth.
Very good mouth feel; medium full body, smooth, rich, lightly creamy, light
carbonation that is subtly fluffy, and a wheat smooth laden finish that is
lightly dry and subtly warming.

Overall, a SOLID brew from a great little brewery.

Cheers

My argument against barrel-aging every darn beer on the planet. I did not get the traditional flavors of a weizenbock and instead got lots of out-of-place barrel sweetness. I wanted to really like it, but...

750ml bottle poured into a tulip..

Dark brown, with a full off white frothy head, which does slowly diminish, lacing is good.

Nose is banana and bubble gum, which follows through to the flavor.

The feel is watery as you would expect from the style, yet sticky in the finish. The banana follows through in the finish

Overall, I really enjoyed this beer. Full disclosure I really like this style. I'm glad to see The Bruery making a beer like this. The story here is the banana drawn from the beer itself without flavoring additives. For Weizenbock fans that enjoy banana/bubble gum, this beer is worth a pour.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 7/27/2018. Pours slightly hazy dark ruby red/brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fatnastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big raisin, plum, prune, cherry, fig, date, apricot, pear, red apple, banana, bubblegum, clove, peppercorn, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, nuts, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, molasses, licorice, chocolate, cocoa, leather, tobacco, herbal, and yeast/toast/oaky earthiness. Bit of booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready/light roasted malts, and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge raisin, plum, prune, cherry, fig, date, apricot, pear, red apple, banana, bubblegum, clove, peppercorn, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, nuts, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, molasses, licorice, chocolate, cocoa, leather, tobacco, herbal, and yeast/toast/oaky earthiness. Light herbal/roast bitterness, yeast/bourbon/oak tannin spiciness; and slight wheat tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of raisin, plum, prune, cherry, fig, date, apricot, pear, red apple, banana, bubblegum, clove, peppercorn, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, nuts, dark/brown bread, coconut, molasses, light licorice/chocolate, leather, tobacco, herbal, and yeast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready/light roasted malts, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt/bitterness and yeast/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is great. Mildly increasing warmth of 10.9%, with minimal barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged weizenbock! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready/light roasted malts, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV, with the mildly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Amazing balance of fruity yeast, and rich malt complexity; with near perfect barrel integration. Not overly boozy/tannic. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example.

A: Poured into a snifter to a deep brown topped by a dense two finger light tan head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing.
S: Smells of huge toffee with some banana, coconut, vanilla and clove.
T: Taste is toffee, bananas and some clove up front with some nice oak, vanilla, and a little coconut. A little toasted bread as well but some pretty strong banana, coconut and clove going on. Swallow is more banana, coconut, clove, oak and some lingering vanilla with some toasty malt with banana lingering the longest.
M: This beer is on the fuller side of things in body with a slightly chewy body. Carbonation is effervescent and just slightly prickly while the beer has a drying finish from the abv.
O: Overall this one is pretty rad. Not quite as strong on the barrel notes as Ride That Goat but still a great beer. Plenty of complexity and flavor at the ABV as well makes this one a pretty enjoyable drink. It's definitely worth a try if you can find it.

Pours a root beer brown with quickly dissipating khaki head leaving a ring of bubbly lacing. Nose is sweet stone fruit with hints of woody earthiness. Taste follows with more complex flavors and some alcohol warmth. Nicely done.

Pours a deep brown, respectable fluffy head. Aroma has some charred banana, clove, wet oak. Palate has lots of depth - rum raisin, roasted coconut, vanilla, rye whisky, oak stave - nice balance between earthier & sweeter flavors. Mouthfeel is a tad thin, and a bit hot on the finish, but overall a very good beer
