Notes: This latest installment in our Bake This series features a ridiculous amount of walnut & freeze-dried banana added to our bourbon barrel-aged Bakery stout, mimicking the flavors of fresh baked banana bread.

16 oz. can poured into a snifter.

Near black with a half inch light brown head.

Nose: Banana and nuts really stand out. Bourbon barrel is a bit more noticeable than in some other Bakery stouts, albeit still subtle. Really pleasant and emulates banana bread very well.

Taste: Bourbon barrel is actually front and center here along with vanilla. Banana is not as forward as in the nose but still definitely there. Finish is semisweet with a touch of heat. Definitely comes off more BA stout than the other Bruery Bakery series stouts I’ve had which are more dominated by the flavor additives, but I personally appreciate that.

Feel: Medium-light body, medium carbonation.

Appearance is very dark brown with a creamy, persistent, two finger, mocha head that spotty lacing. Aroma is banana bread in a glass. They nailed the flavors, too. It’s sweet and nutty, and full of banana flavor. The dark roasted malts have a slightly bitter quality, reminding me of a slice of banana bread with a cup of coffee.

Appearance: Very dark brown with a generous-sized dark beige head which slowly subsided. Nice looking IS.

Smell: Moderate Bourbon, banana, brown sugar, and faint vanilla. I'm a fan of the nose with it's various aromas. I wish it was a bit more forward.

Taste: I get Bourbon, banana, brown sugar, and mild roast malt notes. The walnuts were not noticeable to me but there is enough of a banana presence to make a good effort in imitating banana bread. Very restrained alcohol presence. The bal-aging nicely complements the flavor profile.

Mouth-feel: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. The beer has enough body to result on a good mouth-feel.

Overall: so far I'm liking the Bakery series. like it's Coconut-Macaroon sibling this is a tasty beer independent of price but considering I paid $7 for the can it is a real bargain.

My can reads 10.2 ABV. Pours a deep dark brown with a large mocha head that lasts and leaves very nice lacing. Incredible looking beer. Aroma is dark roasted malt, chocolate and a whiff of banana. Flavor starts with rich dark chocolate and finishes with lots of ripe banana. A touch of the barrel is nice, not overpowering. Not really picking much walnut, but overall I think they pretty much nailed what they were trying to accomplish here. Feel is thick and rich. Overall a great "pastry" stout.

16 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 3/25/19, had 8/12/20.

Pours a dark brown, opaque, with a half inch foamy head and some light soapy lacing. Aromas of bourbon, walnut, vanilla, malt, chocolate, oak, char, light banana. The flavor is mostly the same- bourbon, chocolate, some vanilla and walnut, char, light banana, light oak. Smooth, a very good full body, well carbonated.

Wish I hadn’t lost track of this, the flavors- especially the banana, have undoubtedly faded. The walnuts show pretty well. Still a pretty decent stout overall.

Sweet, walnut-spice cake, slightly boozy aromatics on this one! I couldn't find the banana on the nose. Taste follows with a chocolate nut spice cake vibe...that has a hint of banana that is kind of hidden in there. It has great depth and nice mouthfeel but has a little heat and booziness that lingers on the back of the throat.

16 ounce can into snifter, canned on 10/1/2019. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy tan head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, banana, walnut, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of coconut, vanilla, molasses, licorice, raisin, fig, date, smoke, char, leather, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oak earthiness. Minimal booze in the aromas as it warms. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, banana, walnut, bourbon barrels, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with big strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, banana, walnut, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of coconut, vanilla, molasses, licorice, raisin, fig, date, smoke, char, leather, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oak earthiness. Mild herbal, grassy, peppery, roast, char bitterness; fruit tartness; and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, banana, walnut, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, dark/brown bread/crust, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, leather, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while, Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, banana, walnut, bourbon barrels, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with an awesome roast/hop bitter/sweet, tart fruit, and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/tart/spiciness. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is great. Mild increasing warmth of 10.2%, with minimal lingering barrel booze after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic flavored barrel aged imperial stout. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, banana, walnut, bourbon barrels, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV, with the mildly bitter/tart/spicy/drying finish. Awesome soft feel, and not overly bitter/tart/tannic. Fantastic balance of rich malts, authentic banana/walnut flavors, and bourbon barrel presence/integration; with mild earthy hops and fruity yeast. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and outstadning style example as expected of the brewery. Not overwhelming on any aspect.

A decent stout but a disappointment compared to the Coconut Macaroons version. Nuts and bananas are light, lots of booze and chocolate. Thick full bodied stout.

A black color, on the pour, with a decent and sustaining head of white foam. Nose is a bit lacking- malts and a sort of sharp banana smell with slight bourbon. The drinking hits with big sticky malts upfront. The banana flavor is very evident from the start and really seems to dominate and at times drown out the other flavors. The barrel doesn't seem to over-power anything and offers good balance. Full bodied with a sticky/gooey feel that lingers well after each sip. Additional good flavor notes of bourbon, oak, caramel, vanilla, nutmeg, and dark bread,

Overall, I can see this being a rather hit or miss beer- a really if you like banana flavor or not type of brew. I do but I'm still not in love with it.
