Formerly "Vermont Maple Stout"
We scoured the countryside of the Green Mountain State to find the perfect maple syrup companion to this rich barrel-aged imperial stout. Utilizing maple syrup sourced from our friends at Butternut Mountain Farm in Morrisville, Vermont, this stout is sticky and decadent, with a subtly sweet and big bold mouthfeel.

16oz can poured into a snifter
A- pours jet black with a one finger foamy khaki head that has good retention
S- fairly muted nose; a hint of char, some generic sweetness, chocolate
T- heavy dark fruit notes up front with a bold note of prune. Mid-palate brings out a maple sweetness, along with some chocolate. The finish is sweet and malty with more prune notes. Can’t really find any barrel
M- medium body with moderate carbonation, foamy mouthfeel that turns creamy into the finish
O- this one was a rare miss for me, tastes like prune juice with no noticeable barrel

Procured from a trader in Texas. This is my second big beer of the night. The can was slightly damaged during shipping but it seems to have kept its effervescence. I poured it out and a nice small head formed and quickly dissipated. Color was super dark opaque brown. Now I lived in Vermont so we'll see just how Vermonty this maple actually is. It looks like the syrup came from Morrisville, which is about an hour outside of Burlington where I lived. Perfect place to find some rural deliciousness. The smell is almost like a pine tree, it is sugary and dark, chocolate, with a thick heavy scent that bleeds spicy bourbon. Let's taste. Taste is like a maple syrup soaked pancake, bready and thick, heavy and dense. Mouthfeel is quite thick and slightly carbonated. Overall it is very sweet, and probably only for those wanting to recreate their breakfast at waffle house. I love beers from the Bruery, my favorite is their Tuesday beers, but this is also right up my alley. The only beer that might do this kind of thing better is Hoppin Frog Morning After Den Haag. Both are up there in satisfaction and taste. I can drink this anytime, but probably only one in a sitting. Welcome to Vermont!

This was the first beer we had on wet hop harvest brew day that involved no brewing in September 2020.
Pours dark brown. Lighter brown head popped up over the 1" range. Surprisingly good retention too. The aroma strikes nicely, one two combo of bourbon and maple and its as well done as about anything involving the two. Belongs in a discussion with CBS and Maple Eclipse.
Taste was comforting at how well it is done. Maple and bourbon come at you in equal parts. Light sweetness that doesn't feel excessive or dominating. Light dark chocolate/malt alongside. Nice light carbonation amplifies the nice mouth feel that isn't anywhere near boozy. There isn't the biggest roasted malt portfolio, but people would have bitched if this had a bitter non adjunct like body. What they call it? A "dallop" of vanilla?
This is definitely a beer I wish I had stacks of in the cellar. Its a special occasion beer, not a daily pounder, but it really does make things special.

A: Poured into a snifter to a black beer topped by a dense and slightly rocky two fingers of light tan head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of maple syrup, coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malt goodness.
T: Taste is coffee and maple syrup with some dark chocolate, roasted malts, and charred wood with a hint of burnt sugar. On the swallow there's more maple sweetness, coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, charred wood, and some lingering burnt sugar.
M: This beer is big and slightly chewy on the palate with a somewhat velvety feel. Carbonation is there but it's on the low end given the viscosity of this beer while the beer has a drying finish due to the ABV despite the sweetness.
O: Overall this is a really well done beer. The flavors are big and bold while the base beer adds plenty of complexity to offset the sweetness of the maple syrup. This beer is breakfast in a glass.

16 ounce can split two ways.
Pours a clear deep black with half finger of dense light brown head .
Aroma is malty with note of the maple syrup, bourbon, and bread, hint of chocolate and a touch of roastiness.
Maple sweetness on the palate, hints of dark chocolate, bready malt, and bourbon booziness at the back end - no apparent bitterness; sweet but not cloying.
Full mouthfeel though not viscous, brisk carbonation - maple syrup sweetness and warming bourbon linger on the palate.

Pretty great fluffy head after pouring. Smell is mostly sweet and malty. Flavor is roasty malt and some maple. Not terribly well balanced. It’s definitely sweet, but the maple flavor is not terribly strong, at least in the can I got. Mostly just the malt.
