Brewed with 17 lbs. of yams per barrel (in other words, a lot of yams!), this autumn seasonal is a different take on the "pumpkin" beer style. A- Golden dark brown some orange highlights, dark khaki head with lacing around the glass.
S-Sweet booze covered nuts, brown sugar, vanilla cookies, some yeast and breads.
T- Iget an intial hit of booze along with syrupy sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg. Yams do make an appearance somewhere in the middle but not as predominant as I expected. Pretty tasty.
M- Full frothy enough carbonation, does have a bit of a syrupy consistency.
D- Very tasty although the abv was a bit too high for me, you dont get weary from this onslaught of winter flavors. Worth picking up if you see it.

Pours a surprisingly light brown from the bottle, but settles into a darker, copper-tinged brew in the glass. Translucent and slightly hazy, and topped by a large light cream colored head. Very good retention and nice lacing. The colors themselves certainly evoke Fall.
Big, sweet aroma, shot through with tons of spicy Belgian yeast. Cinnamon and nutmeg; maple syrup and cedar; sweet potatoes and brown sugar. Now it looks and smells like Fall in a glass.
Flavor follows: despite not being a pumpkin beer, it's quite similar to most pumpkin brews, as the same spices dominate the brew, followed by a slightly sour woody lacing, sweet and spicy Belgian yeast with a touch of must, and light brown sugar and caramel. It's more complex than most Fall brews, but similarly spicy and sweet.
Lively and sticky; moderately full bodied, surprisingly. Pretty drinkable, but sticky enough to make it a slow sipper.
This is a very different take on a Fall beer, yet simultaneously familiar. The Belgian yeast provides the biggest departure.

From the local watering hole on tap. Pub Pint.
One taste and I ordered a growler to go.
It was like I walked into our local apple orchard store and someone hit me in the face with a pumpkin pie and dozen apple crisp donuts. Then told me it wasn't made from either.
Not a big fan of the fruit and veggie beers. I was really surprised at how well this beer was done. Pumpkin, sweet potato, ginger, brown sugar, maple all the wonderful smells of fall.
A must have for anyone who likes the pumpkin style beers, perfect for autumn.

A- Deep red, brown that reminds me of fall. Off-White head with no lacing.
S- Fall, spice, earthiness, cherries
T- Earthiness and spices up front. Then, cherries with a faint pumpkin. Great with fall weather.
M- Perfect carbonation with a nice balance to dryness and slick coating of the pallete.
D- I want another!

A: Light golden color. Goldfish and clear.
S: Strong honey. A resemblance of mead.
T: Starts with honey and yam and finishes with baked beans. Yes..I can taste baked beans.
M: Light, fruity but slightly viscous.
O: A good beer from The Bruery. I'm glad they tried something different for their fall seasonal..not sure it really beat the good ol' pumpkin ale though. It definitely got very sweet towards the end. Good beer overall.

I opened this in the sink, because I've been gushed at before by some Bruery beers. This one was like a volcanic eruption.
When things settled down, the beer turned out to be a golden brown color. There was a medium-sized tan head with good retention.
It had a sweet potato and maple syrup aroma. There was a hint of spice.
Spice was much more prominent in the taste. Cinnamon and nutmeg. Sweet potato and maple syrup.
Medium-bodied, easy to drink.

2010 vintage poured into a snifter.
A -- Pours a deep reddish brown with one finger of off-white head. Head fades pretty quickly leaving only small spots of lacing.
S -- Brown sugar, cinnamon and other spices up front. Also some vanilla and bready malts. Smells good. A little sweet, but not overwhelmingly so.
T - A bit of candi sugar, brown sugar and maple-glazed yams followed by a significant spice presence. Cinnamon and nutmeg stand out. Similar to the smell, there is some sweetness, but this wasn't nearly as sweet as I thought it might be. I really enjoyed the taste.
M - Medium/full mouthfeel that is a bit syrupy. Finishes pretty dry from the spices.
O- I haven't had this fresh, but with more than a year on it, this is a very enjoyable beer on a cold winter night.
