Notes / Commercial Description:
Brewed with 17 lbs. of yams per barrel (in other words, a lot of yams!), this autumn seasonal is a different take on the "pumpkin" beer style. Brewed with cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, vanilla, molasses, and maple syrup, and fermented with our traditional Belgian yeast strain, this bold and spicy beer is perfect on a cold autumn evening.

This beer pours a slightly cloudy ruby brown with a large head. The aroma presents molasses, cooked banana, clove, candied orange peel, and brown sugar. The flavor features butterscotch, clove, banana, molasses, a hint of maple, and brown sugar. The mouthfeel is full, almost syrupy. Overall this is definitely a dessert beer, but the solid, balanced flavor are very pleasant - the Belgian yeast notes cut through the brown sugar and molasses, but the maple presence coul dbe much greater. This is a good beer, but not great,

In my opinion, one of the better fall (pumpkin/yam) beers out there.

Pumpkin pie color with a slightly off white head. The head is one finger with poor retention (probably due to the high alcohol content). The beer is cloudy and some carbonation bubble visible.

N: Caramel, fruity, maple, earthy, citrus, alcohol, brown sugar, honey, and some floral,

T: Boozy, caramel, toffee, fruity ester earthy, citrus, brown sugar, honey, spices, floral, and squash.

M: Warming carbonated, and Medium body.

O: This is very boozy beer and i just was not feeling this, honestly I did not like. The maple flavor got lost and I could detect squash not yam flavors. I will not ever pick up another glass of this. Too boozy for me and not enough balance in the beer

Not a big fan of pumpkin/pumpkin spiced beers but been trying to get into them. Disliked this one for reasons I didnt expect. It had really nice autumn flavours of the yams, the spices and some caramel, but then a big, hot booziness which I was not expecting at 'only' 10%.

With an opaque copper color, it is bright, sweet and malt forward with a citrus marshmallow aroma. The taste is dark biscuit savory with rosemary and a bit of cotton candy booze. It’s slightly too boozy, but is a nice concoction of sweet flavors overall.

Bruery Autumn Maple

Look: Pours with about an inch of dense foam, large bubbles, and lots of lacing. Beer itself is a cloudy, murky-looking medium brown. 3.75

Smell: It has that yeasty/brown-sugar smell typical of Belgians, some banana, and hint of Thanksgiving spice with plenty of sweetness and alcohol noticeable. Not really getting any maple on the nose, however. 3.75

Taste: It's like the smell, but more subdued. There is some yeast, some banana, a hint of spice, and no maple. 3.5

Mouthfeel: A nice, mild chewiness with the carbonation giving it a soft finish. 3.75

Overall: I wish it had more maple character, a bit more body, and a bit less sweetness, but it's a nice, mild beer for an evening. 3.75

This is a really well put together ale. To pile in all those American Thanksgiving flavors and then add a Belgian yeast and have it all fit together... well it defies explanation. So I merely ask: "How does The Bruery do that?"

Other reviews consider this a dessert beer. I Had it before, during and after dinner and it fit all three... but that was because I was at a farm-to-table restaurant that had its Autumn menu in full.

Two bits of advice on this beer. First, if you like it, go buy another one. Second, if you buy another one, save it for next year. This ale fresh is certainly good, but the flavors are a bit obvious. Mellowed for a year, they should be much mellower.

Had again for Thanksgiving 2016... And I didn't take my own advice. I bought a second bottle and drank it three weeks later. But my advice remains the same, buy it and cellar so the flavors get more subtle.
