Full disclosure. I knew this would not really be a beer for me before going into it. Looks good and smells nice, but the cherry is very overpowering. Not getting any barrel character and the cinnamon is noticed more in heat than flavor. Mildly boozy. Overcarbonated.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned in 12/2019. Pours dense opaque pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky tan head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of huge juicy/tart/tangy red/black cherries, fruit skin/pits, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cinnamon, almonds, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, coffee, dark fruits, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Minimal booze in the aromas as it warms. Amazing aromas with fantastic balance and complexity of cherries, cinnamon, vanilla, dark/black/roast/bready malts, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast/barrel notes; with big strength. Taste of huge juicy/tart/tangy red/black cherries, fruit skin/pits, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cinnamon, almonds, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, coffee, dark fruits, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Light herbal, grassy, peppery, roast, charred bitterness; and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy red/black cherries, fruit skin/pits, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cinnamon, almonds, toasted biscuit, dark/brown bread/crust, molasses, dark fruits, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, cinnamon, vanilla, dark/black/roast/bready malts, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast/barrel flavors; with a fantastic malt/bitter/tart/tangy balance; and no cloying/acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/tart/tangy notes. Medium carbonation and full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready malts, fairly acidity/tang/tannic, lightly slick/sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mild increasing warmth of 10.2%, with minimal lingering booziness after the finish. Overall this is an amazing fruited pastry stout. All around amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, cinnamon, vanilla, dark/black/roast/bready malts, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast/barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV, with the mellowly bitter/tart/tangy/drying finish; fantastic soft/silky feel for the ABV. Not much barrel at all, but the rest of the beer is spot on stuff. Perfectly balanced super jammy cherries, vanilla, cinnamon, and rich malts; light earthy hops and restrained fruity yeast. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Not sure if I would have preferred more barrel, really could not have done it much better than this. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected of the brewery.

Served in a teku glass from the can.

Appearance: Semi thick dark brown tinted black body creating a very dark tan head rising almost one finger's length off the body.

Smell: sweet aroma consisting of caramel and a tarty cherry or blueberry aroma. Soft yet strong all at once.

Taste: Complex sweet beast of a beer, might be a touch too sweet so I wouldn't have it on an empty stomach.
Strong whiskey feel accompanied with a bit of tartiness gives this brew an edge.
Mouth: Sticky brew, feels like maple syrup to your cheeks and it just lingers with a soft carbonation and ridiculously full body.

Overall: Good brew, would definitely but it again, it is a bit pricey but then again anything from Bruery is. Still worth it. Salud!

Pours deep dark brown with a large dark tan head. Head falls away fairly quickly but leaves generous lacing. Aroma is cinnamon and cherries. Flavor follows with additional flavors of vanilla (think whipped cream topping) and pastry crust is there as well. This definitely is a cherry pie in a glass. I'm not picking up any bourbon barrel, but I'm not disappointed with that. Feel is a little on the light bodied side. Overall a very nice dessert beer with a well hidden high ABV.
