Like a good woman. Great color, smells good, nice head, and changes your state of mind when your with her. I love this beer. Glad I bought a case. I think it will get better with age.

One of those great beers, it's greatness laying in the fact that you need to share this bottle.

Pours a dark beer. A few bubbles form at the top. Smells like fortified old wine. Tastes like wine too, but bitter. It is an ale and it has a lot of strength. A bit heady, sure to knock you out. Mouth feel is a bit syrupy and thick.

The appearance was very dark muddy brown with a centimeter of head. It smells fruity and nutty with the addition of booze on the nose. It tasted great, fig, plum, and a nicely balance hops and booze. Very earthy. Overall, great with bbq as I had it... Ready to have another bottle.

750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 1/26/2017. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy very dark brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of huge caramel, toffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, brown sugar, vanilla, maple, molasses, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, brown bread, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of raisin, plum, fig, cherry, date, and roast/toast/oak earthiness. Lightly increasing booze in the aromas as it warms, but never overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, bourbon barrels, and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of huge caramel, toffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, brown sugar, vanilla, maple, molasses, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, brown bread, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of raisin, plum, fig, cherry, date, and roast/toast/oak earthiness. Light roast bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, toffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, brown sugar, vanilla, maple, molasses, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, brown bread, nuttiness, dark fruit, cherry, and roast/toast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, bourbon barrels, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with an awesome roasted bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; and with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Slight dryness from roast bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and slightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Mildly warming alcohol from 16.3%, with minimal barrel booziness. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged blended strong ale! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, bourbon barrels, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. More of an old ale on style, but still has nice levels of chocolaty roast presence. Perfect balance of barrels; adding plenty of complexity to the base blend, without being boozy or overly tannic. An insanely enjoyable offering.

The most intriguing, complex beer I've had.

A: all the vanilla, caramel, toffee you can get from a bourbon barrel

T: so much going on... in a wonderful way

O: the most pleasant, vibrant, complex, "aged/old" beer I've had

On tap at The Bruery, poured into mini-snifter (which would prove to be plenty). Appearance is dark reddish-brown with a tan head, streaks, and minimal lacing, which is not unexpected for such a high abv beer. Aroma is powerful butterscotch, vanilla, toffee, cocoa, bourbon heat, roasted malt, dark fruit, brown sugar, and oak. Taste is very sweet with toffee, vanilla, and fig up front. Some oaky bitterness, but not balanced whatsoever. And heat, but less than the 15% on the bottle prepared me for. A sipper, certainly, due to both booze and sweetness. Full bodied, thick, slightly oily texture, low carbonation, sweet, warming finish.

Flight at the Bruery.

A: A dark hazy maroon/brown. Little to no head and relatively little lacing.

S: Wow, what can't I smell? Plums, prunes, caramel, toffee, and maybe even a little bit of chocolate. Deliciousness all around.

T: Perfect. Absolutely delicious blend of caramel and toffees, dark fruits permeate the mouth. Worth the several bottles I bought.

MF/D: Extremely smooth with relatively little carbonation, but couldn't believe the ABV. Certainly tasted strong, but not 15+%...

First off, congrats to hophead84 below me for knocking out 25oz. of this monster. I had 2 glasses and questioned my ability to drive automobiles or any heavy machinery.

I have to say that in a year of beer hype going through the roof with over hyped barrel aged so and so's, this was the one beer that truely did not disappoint. It was like hearing everyone talk about inglorious basterds, and having it still demolish your expectations.

I could have drank this all night and not flinched... in fact after my first one disappeared so fast, a fellow BA and i both noticed how remarkable easy this was to drink (a characteristic that i think all of their big beers have). I will admit, I can see where those who are not crazy about big beers or are unwavering hop devouring machines would not get along with melange, but i can assure it did me just right. If its still there tomorrow, I think I'm going back...
