2017 edition. Nothing outstanding to look at, dark, brownish edges, not much in foam or lacing, cloudy and almost dirty looking. Big barrel smell, a lot of sweetness, chocolate and molasses. Taste – wow. It's got a lot of sweetness with chocolate and maple, but it's got a roasty stout and tart/bitter old Ale combo with a date/raisin like fruitiness, and underneath it all is a barrel presence that doesn't overpower the other flavors. Just an awesome blend. Feel is magnificent. It's oily, but not too oily, it's boozy but goes down smooth, it's got a big filling feel but isn't heavy. Wish I had another to see how it would be in a year, but I think I drank it at a damn fine time.

Evwr have a Bruery anniversary ale? Then you know what this looks and smells like; sweet, caramel, fig, danger. You just know this is gonna be a big beer. Taste is mostly reminiscent of barrel aged barleywine, very sweet, no booze heat at all, surprising at 16.3% abv. Definitely a smooth, delicious sipper.

Black but with a reddish hue. Viscous texture and a light tan head. Looks pretty good.

Smell and taste are fantastic. Nice chocolate brownie like smell mixed with a bit of cherry and caramel malt with a light hop bitterness combined with a slight fruity alcohol to it. The taste is also brownie like with a chocolate and caramel mix with a slight cherry. No hop bitterness in the taste but definitely some light alcohol as the stinger at the finish. Caramel is fairly present as the center.

Feel is thick and heavy yet drinkable. Very tiny fizzy carbonation but no burn.

Fantastic. Wonderful blend.

Poured a brown body with minimal head. Smell is thick and malty with hints of wood and booze (vanilla-esque). Sweet, thick, sticky, a slight red wine oakiness with caramel/toffee sweet vibe and dark fruits like raisins/prunes. Slow sipper with boozy heat on finish but real enjoyable.

Dark brown brew, but noticeably lighter than a black stout, which one might expect based on Black Tuesday. Head production is solid, and retention is excellent, settling out at about 1/4 finger after several minutes.

Big, powerful nose: bourbon, toffee, caramel, oak, brown sugar, prunes, red grapes, coconut (from the bourbon), port wine, roasted barley, coffee; perhaps a touch of chocolate. Really deep, complex, and inviting.

Flavor mostly follows, with a slightly sour edge only hinted at by the nose. Prunes and raisins; honey; bourbon; toffee and caramel; vanilla; nuts; oak, red grapes, red wine. Thickly sweet and rich finish: chocolate, brown sugar, white chocolate, and cream.

Thick, hot, lively, smooth. Definitely a sipper, but more approachable than some of their other huge brews. Dangerously so, in fact; I could down this much like a 10% stout.

This is a very good beer, but compared to the base beers, I feel slightly disappointed. The slightly sour edge is a bit uninvited, as well - although I'm by no means implying this beer is infected. It also fades a touch as the beer warms.

Very nice, but at this price, I would only revisit if I were sharing with friends who had never had it.
