India Pale Lager, but closer to Imperial Pilsner than IPA, according to the brewery.

A-Murky gold/yellow.

S- Floral and pine.

T - citrus and pine hoppiness with mild bitterness.

M - Medium light, fairly smooth.

O - Pretty similar to an IPA. Bitterness is not off-putting and, while not my style, it is very drinkable.

3.82/5: Really damn easygoing and light for such a big pilsner; great C-hop character

Fairly floral, pine, muddled citrus aroma. Very hoppy, but somewhat refined. Lightly sweet malt.

Flavor is extremely citrusy, with tangerine, grapefruit, and peach notes countering lightly sweet, bready malt. The finish is fairly bitter and crisp. Nuanced brew. Not overly hoppy, and the flavoring hops go so well together.

My new favorite beer.....of recent memory anyways.Came in standard pint a chill hazed lighter golden with a thinner but sticky white head atop, now the fun begins.A big slash of grassy and citric hops hit ya in the face but it's not all about that,I also got a doughy/bread quality that stood up against it.The flavor for me are near perfection, big grassy and spicy hops intertwined with pizza dough that turns into a crisp finish. The hops are not finished at the grassiness,as I drank more the citric/fruity qualities played a bigger role in the finish.I mean what a lager they have here, the Bruery just killed it here....what a fantastic beer.Wow.

On tap at Hopcat in Lexington, served in a Pilsner glass.

A: Clear gold body under a finger of fine white head. Good retention and lots of clinging lace. Lovely looking lager.

S: Clean, bright, but slightly subdued aroma. Hops dominate, with grassy, herbal notes in front and faint grapefruit and pine in the background. Complex, delicate, and inviting.

T: Fruitier hops at first, with lemon-lime as well as grapefruit. Things quickly get dryer and more herbal, with some distant biscuit malt offsetting the clean, crisp lager yeast on the back end. Long, bitter, grassy aftertaste. Quite tasty.

M: Medium-light body, with lively carbonation at first becoming smoother with a swish. Nice.

O: I'm on a quest to try as many #1 rated beers by style as possible, and this paragon of the Imperial Pilsner had long eluded me. It's a pleasure to try it at last, and while I prefer some of Jack's Abby's offerings it's a great brew. Cheers!
