We brewed this ale with around 40% rye as a base malt and let our sour yeast and bacteria eat away at it in oak barrels for over a year creating a sour ale with a complex character of rye spice, oak and a subtle funk.

Bottle to tulip.
The appearance was a golden semi-bronzed yellow color with a sly transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a moderate pace to fill a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off exceptionally quick (didn't bother me as I find a ton of beers of this style tend to have heads that fall of super quick). No lace.
The aroma had some sourdough to rye-like floral to semi-spicy conglomeration rolling over some sour candy-like sweetness. Malt bill seemed to be super low but there.
The flavor was that sourdough sort of taste with the floral component of the rye coming about and then pulling in the spice to eventually come in for the expected aftertaste that kept it's composure to be exceptionally satisfying.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a good sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt as projected. Sourdough to rye-like sort of finish.
Overall, nicely done American wild ale with the rye punching in a light spicy and floral quality that I tend to love with rye beers and now with this as a sour ale, well, what's not to love.
