Damn look at all those infected reviews. I guess I got lucky. I severly dislike the base beer. The bretted version sucked too.

Pours dark brown. Looks like a porter. Full on 4/5" beige head on top. Aroma of bourbon and yams, shit I actually like this, a pretty unique profile. Beyond the yams lies some of that nutmeg and cinnamon combo.

The taste really leans on the bourbon barrel. Which is good, that is a major improvement. But it also melds well with the yams and stuff so its a double bonus, takes something I like, pushes weight with that, but then takes the base I dislike and makes that part good. Boozy, but I can handle 13% of this compared to 13% of the other variants, woof. Toffee and wood comes around in the mouth feel that has a lower than average carbonation level for beer. Can come off a little heavy and sticky in that regard.

Still wasn't a beer I would recommend to people, but its easily the best of the now 3 kinds I've had.

Original review must have gotten lost on BA (sorry JLindros) so I pulled my last bottle from the cellar. 2013 bottle

A - Poured into a Duvel tulip a lighter chestnut brown with a nice one finger light brown head that fades to leave thin lacing and a thin blanket.

S - Aromas of cinnamon and allspice, very light vanilla and brown sugar. Next to no barrel notes.

T - Taste is very, very tart apple vinegar, allspice, ginger, cinnamon, sweet brown sugar. No barrel notes. Just tart green apples.

M - Mouthfeel is somewhat crisp, tart, lightly flemmy. Not really syrupy and certainly does not drink like it's ABV.

O - Overall I really wish I'd reviewed this back in 2014, when presumably it was still drinking good instead of like the infected mess this is now. A darn shame.

2013 bottle- sadly infected as expected.

Pours a beautiful mahogany with ruby clarity. Sitting atop is a finger of khaki head that fades quick leaving patchy lace.

Smell has some tang to it along with raw oak, earth and cinnamon. Fruity almost like cranberry. As it warms up, it smells kinda shitty with vegetal matter mixing with dirty diapers.

Taste is tart right upfront almost lemony with raw oak tannins feeling like im drinking a strong sour tea. Cinnamon bark in the finish then vegetal matter.

Light body and modestly carbonated. A trainwreck of a beer.

L' Infected

Another party pooper but everyone was sort-of expecting it. Looks good on paper but it ended up just being sour all over. The bottles when they were fresh were supposed to be really nice but so far, it seems, all the held on to bottles went bad.
