Style: Belgian Strong Pale Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
formerly known at Mischief #3

Mischief is a hoppy Belgian-style golden ale. This wickedly good golden ale is fiendishly dry-hopped with American hops to add a layer of complexity and mystery to its fruity, dry Belgian-style character. Citrus and resin diabolically combine with ripe melon, pear and slight peppery spice in a precariously effervescent mixture. Enjoy it, but you’ll want to keep an eye out. Gold Medal – 2016 Great American Beer Festival, American-Belgo-Style Ale.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a nice looking light copper color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Sliding messy lace.
The aroma had a super nice blend of grassy sweet features rolling over some swift sweet Belgian sugars, light bready/yeastiness, sly funk/maybe somewhat basement-like. Ended with a touch of alcohol tickle.
The flavor was moderately sweet pouncing on somewhat nicely grassy to funky to earthy quaint booziness. Light coriander just before the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt good, perhaps a touch under but not burdensome. ABV felt fine despite smelling and even tasting some of it. This one actually felt right as projected.
Overall, really nice Belgian Strong Pale Ale that I would have again.

POUR: Bomber bottle into a goblet. APPEARANCE: Starts out with a nice and thick white head which reduces to a thin film after settling. Moderate glass lacing present. Hazy and golden in color. Lots of sediment present and suspended due to the unfiltered bottle conditioning. AROMA: Nice bready malt mix with Belgian yeasts. Some pear and white grape notes. Herbal and spicy. TASTE: Surprisingly lemony citrus. Light and acidic. Some honey and grassy elements as well. Dry body with pale malt. AFTERTASTE: More dry with white grape flavors. Some lingering spicy kick is present as well. NOTES: Well crafted and complex with a bunch of surprising flavor combinations throughout. REVIEW/RATING: Very Good/ 4.6 out of 5.

From Mikkeller Shop. In Teku glass. Playing The Last Door 2. Overrated.
Similar to a Troubadour Magma but much more expensive and with a stronger grassy bitterness that in the long run becomes tiresome. Body is on the watery side.

Had it on tap at the always fabulous Ginger Man, NYC.
Pours a hazy straw color that later reveals an orange hue. A dense foamy white head-very Belgian Golden Ale like-retains fairly well and leaves lacing.
Nice, pleasant and subtle complexity in the aroma. Lots of fruity sweetness; peach, pear and especially melon. Cracker and honey malt sweetness is punctuated by spice.
On the tongue it first drinks chalky and dry, with a gentle sting in the carbonation. The body is medium and smooth. There is a nice and soft lemon tartness in the finish. As the brew warms, it yields greater complexity in the flavor. The cracker malt and honey sweetness becomes more evident, as does the Belgian spice, fruity esters from the yeast, and a kiss of hops.
This is one of the best American made Belgian Strong Golden Ales I have had. It is complex yet smooth and very easy to drink. I liked it a lot.

Poured to a tulip Duvel glass.

A: The budy is yellow crystalline with minimal white head and no lacing. Despite having a bad head, this beer's body is wonderful.
S: The aroma is wonderful as well since you can feel the near-Duvel hoppiness together with some brettonamyces. There's some fruity tones but not necessarily citrusy. This fruity touch brings some sweetness.
T: The taste is malty, citrusy and a bit of hops - you notice the freshness here is gone because the hoppy power is very mild but yet, the flavor is relentlessly good.
M: The body is unexpectedly medium high. For a "golden-hoppy" beer, I was expecting a very low density. Carbonation is medium although not visible. Bitterness is mild due to the lack of freshness.
O: I believe this is my first The Bruery beer, even though this is not fresh, I must admit I'm impressed.

Poured cold from a bomber into a st bernardus glass. Nice hazy golden orange. Smells great with citrus, pear, apricot, hops. Love the combo. Real nice light hops taste mixed with the fruits. Not as effervescent as a lot of belgians I've had, but enough to know what im drinking. Dry on the finish. Smells a touch better than it tastes, but really tasty. As normal, really opens up as the temperature rises. Definitely going to buy this again.
