Dark brown, super thin head on it, not impressive looking, looks more like spirits than beer. Aroma was ultra rich, lots of malt, barrel, chocolate, syrup/molasses, alcohol heat.
Taste is incredibly complex and huge. Sweet caramel and chocolate, bourbon, oak, vanilla, burnt malt and brown sugar. Sticky stuff. Not all that hot for 17%. Carbonation subdued and appropriate. Giant stuff.

Had this last night with an anniversary ale vertical. This was the first 100% bourbon barrel aged anniversary ale we had (100% Papier was too hard to find). I've had the 25/75 blend a few times, which is good, but the 100% blend is just amazing. The barrel really does something nice to this old ale, simply amazing.
