Good hearty red appearance on this one with over 1/2" of white head, ample clarity. Dropped a serious amount of dry hopping here, Centennial I believe, works well, impressive, elite 1st tier hopping/aroma notes from this red ale. Impressive.

This hit all kinds of involved notes here, lots of hops, green vegetal feel to them, lush and bitter, red malt is not overly peaty or 'red' for a lack of a better descriptor. Some woodsy vanilla, citrus.

This is a relatively complex and underrated red ale. One of the best, seems to get hardly any love, but it is top notch stuff. Better than Nugget Nectar, just not as convenient of a format and price.

Oak is in the name and description, but it's not prominent. To me this is well-hopped US red ale, with somewhat harsh bitterness and a strange smoky note.

750 ml bottle poured into a tulip glass

A: Dark red, amber, mahogany color, big creamy head, lots of lacing, different red hues when held up to the light, looks really good.

A: Lots of citrus hop notes up front, really big lemon aromas, slight vanilla, oak, it has a cream soda/lemon soda kind of aroma, no alcohol.

T: Citrus hop notes, some malts, vanilla, slight oak, I'm getting the citrus notes, then there is a nice balance with a slight oak character, kind of pulls the beer from being too hoppy and bitter.

M: Medium mouthfeel with a decent amount of carbonation, dry finish.

O: First thought as I finish is that this is different than other beers I've tried. Citrus hoppy notes up front, then it's balanced with the vanilla, oak, wood notes from the barrel, and finishes dry.
