On Tap
Stone Brew Co.
Escondido, CA
A dark brown and ruby with glowing red edges. Thin half-inch light tan head atop. Pretty.
A powerfully aromatic sour. There's plenty of sweet fruit aromas, particularly cherries and grapes, along with a mellow woody aroma. Very tart nose.
A delicious and perfect sour. Balanced, sweet, tangy, woody, spicy, then more sweetness. It's one of those special drinks where the longer you drink, the more it evolves, the more you find in it.
Medium body, lip puckering, no alcohol presence. Perhaps could benefit from a touch more carbonation, but I'd only be nit-picking.
An absolutely fantastic sour. I raced down to Stone when I saw on the Web site that it was available for a keep the glass night on draft, and I don't regret it one bit. Great beer!

Burgundy colored, a little darker than that even, dark red/brown, 1/5" off white head. Aroma was heavy oak and cedar, sour, dark guava fruit, plum.
Lots of wood in the mouthfeel and taste on this one. HIdes alcohol well, similar to Consecration, not as much alcohol though. Leather. Cedar. Oak. Dark cherry. Cranberry.

A - Pours a red mahogany colored body with a one finger fizzy light khaki head. No lacing or retention to this.
S - Light whiff of cranberries and leather at first. Develops into oak and some vinegar.
T - Oak and tart juicy cranberries at the front. Midway I'm getting leather and brown sugar. The finish a little sweet. Not as acidic as previous reviews say.
F - Light bodied and light carbonation. Was hoping for more carbonation here.
O - I imagine age has smoothed the rough edges on this. Very well refined.
