2011 Marron Acidifie 750 ml
A: Pours a complete blackout mahogany with no head and small chunks of sediment that both fall to the bottom and a few white specks that hung out on top.
S: This has an incredible vinegarette aroma with sourness in the form of tart cherries, oak and lemons.
T: Sour it claims and sour it is. This is incredibly sour and definitely a sipper. There is a bunch of lemon mixing with unripened cherry and very bitter fruit which definitely creates the sour lemon face. As it warms in your mouth, you get a few different layers of flavor indicating that this is definitely a blend of barrels some of which had turned slightly vinegary, some of which are full of leather and others that had plenty of tropical fruit. I definitely can taste an unripened cranberry flavor which is named on the label. This is that tartness that really comes through to induce the pucker. If you have ever eaten an unsweetened cranberry, you should recognize this as well. At the very end and as it warms more and more, the leather and tobacco really come through. I tasted a number of caramelized malt sugars and really this is what I liked the most. Like a bottle of wine, this one changes as it gets oxygen in it and heats up.
Light mouthfeel which is right for the style and a nice medium light carbonation level.
Overall, a tasty and complex oud brune, more to my liking than some of the Flemish Oud Brunes and a slow sipper.

A: Pours a dark cherry red color with brown hues in the body. Thin off white head forms on the pour and recedes to a thin ring. It leaves some light spots of lace.
S: Some cherry skins with a tart raspberry undertone. There is some thick maltiness with a touch of oak. Mild leather notes are present as well.
T: The body of this beer is incredibly malty. Some sweet dark cherry flesh and some tart respberry. There is a mild sour pucker with an oaky touch. The barrel produces some sweetness, but the malts really hit back in the finish.
M: Medium bodied with a little too much heft. Medium carbonation and a malty sweetness is on the finish.
O: The body of the beer was just too big and malty. I know the style was an "imperial" oud bruin, but I don't think the style really works. Not enough tartness and puckering to back up the big malt body.

A friend form the bruery brought this out with him for some friends to try ahead of schedule!
Pours a dark ruby brown color. Minimal head on the glass but a small amount tight pinkish bubbles form and disappear.
Aroma- dark cherries, light malt, light vinegar, small amount of sour on the nose.
taste- pleasant, mellow amount of dark red fruits. just a hint of vinegar on the palate just enough to give it some bite. A slight drying effect on the palate. A good bit of malt showing through as it is still very young.
overall a very solid beer. similar to oude tart but maybe a bit more sour. Very drinkable and very well rounded. The Bruery doing a great job yet again!

Picked this one up awhile back. Opened with other BA's at a "sour" beer tasting a couple weeks ago. Reviewed from notes. Poured into a brandy snifter.
A: Pours a dark reddish-brown, copper color with not much head retention.
S: Oak dominates. Some funk and vinegar as well.
T: Like an imperial brown ale with brett? Lots of oak, and earthy characteristics. I got a lot of cranberries from this one. Really full flavored brew.
M: Medium. Found it to be much more well rounded compared to the Sang Royal we tasted right before.
O: One of my favorites of the night. I found it adventurous, and somewhat mouth puckering, but refined and quite drinkable. Wish I had another bottle.

S - Light whiff of cranberries and leather at first. Develops into oak and some vinegar.
T - Oak and tart juicy cranberries at the front. Midway I'm getting leather and brown sugar. The finish a little sweet. Not as acidic as previous reviews say.
F - Light bodied and light carbonation. Was hoping for more carbonation here.
O - I imagine age has smoothed the rough edges on this. Very well refined.

Smells like someone drank a bottle of red wine vinegar and vomitted.
Taste is just as bad if not worse. If I ate a handful of cherries and threw up in my hand, then pureed it, strained it and drank it again. That's the taste, Spot On.
Mouthfeel is quick. Cuz you gotta hurry and swallow or spit it out.
Overall Id have to say I rather drink a Mickeys, King Cobra or any other terrible malt liquor/terrible beer. This has got to be the most horrifying "beer" I've ever had in my many years of beer drinking/loving.
