2020 Edition
A: Poured into a snifter to a deep brown beer which is topped by a dense and slightly rocky finger and a half of light tan head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of slight tartness and some wine grapes, nice wine barrel influence as well
T: Taste is building tartness up front with some leathery funk, hints of caramel, wine barrel and some grapes. On the finish there's more leathery tartness, madeira wine influence, and some slight lingering spice.
M: This beer has a body which is on the lighter side of medium. Carbonation is on the light yet effervescent side of things while the acidity gives this beer a drying finish.
O: Overall this one isn't bad, but it isn't quite in line with what the style should be. The sourness is an interesting twist, but at this point it's a very acidity driven beer. I wonder how it would have been a little fresher.

2020 Vintage
375ml bottle poured into a tulip
A- pours brown in color with a ruby hue, one finger foamy off white head has good retention
S- vinous grape aroma up front with both red and white aromas popping up. Notes of black cherry, oak, cherry tobacco and an acidic lemony tartness
T- sweet and malty initially with notes of brown bread, molasses and chocolate. Mid-palate brings a sharp tartness that adds green apple, lemon and pear. The finish gives more malty sweetness with candi sugar, chocolate and some oaky sweet wine notes, tartness lingers
M- medium body with moderate carbonation, sweet yet tart, slightly foamy tart finish, abv hidden well

Drank December 27, 2015. Way prefer this version versus the regulare Three French Hens.
Poured a dark brown color with that red edge when held up to the light. Didn't make much of a head on it, 1/8". The aroma lacked the belgian yeast push on you. Grape, tart, red wine and oak notes.
Taste has got a tart/sour aspect to it. Improvement for sure. Strong, but the tartness takes the edge off of it. More earthy leather tobacco gardening soil mix. Instead of a bitter dark fruit edge, this one came in more wine and sour like, again for the better. Smooth toffee earthiness. Carbonation was good. Doesn't feel heavy, has a good crisp edge to it for the size of this beer. This seems like kind of a predecessor to a lot of the beer and wine hybrids that Bruery got into many years later. Well I guess they made Oui Oui before this, but this was the first red wine like hybrid kind of beer thing predecessor.

A: nice brown color with little head
S: wine grapes, Belgian yeast
T: the wine BArrel and the Belgian style are just both watering my mouth and fighting for the win
M: acidic but smooth, the grapes make it dry as F.
Overall: great brew that represents exactly what they were trying to accomplish, however, I don't think it's a really great style
