Notes / Commercial Description:
We debuted Griffon Bruxellois late in 2012 at a few of our events and it was quite a hit. This dark, sour ale was aged in oak barrels on cherries, giving it an incredible fruit flavor, balanced by the roasted malt and lactic tartness. We must admit, this bottle-conditioned beer didn't turn out quite as carbonated as we were hoping for, but it is still an incredible beer, 100% worthy of our high standards to be sold, served, shared and enjoyed!

Overall, this is a well-balanced sour ale. Subtle hints of caramel intertwined with fruit that balance out the sour. It pours a deep, reddish brown with very little carbonation but the beer doesnt really need any - it works as is.

Poured into a wine glass from a capped 750 ml bottle. Pours a fairly clear copper amber and sports a somewhat fleeting off white cap of foam. Aroma is clean with subtle oak notes prominent, and cherry sour notes amidst it all.

Taste starts with a light malt character but finishes with notable fruit character with sweetness and a hint of dilute gatorade. Bit watery in feel and fairly blah blah in character as the sour influence is fairly low as is the malt profile. A fairly light bodied Oud Bruin. Decent feel and finish though quite dry on the finish.

750 ml bottle poured into a tulip

A: Pours a dark cloudy, hazy brown with no head nor lacing.

A: Lots of cherries, rich cherry sweetness, caramel sweetness, light brown sugar notes, hints of sour and dark cherry tart notes as well, smells very promising.

T: Up front, balsamic vinegar and cherry tartness, finish has notes of dark, freshly dried sweet cherries along with light notes of brown sugar and caramel, light sour notes throughout that balances well with the beer's other notes, very nice.

M: Light bodied with a good amount of carbonation and very dry balsamic vinegar-like finish.

O: This is really good, I love sour brown ales with cherries, this beer stands out from others because the cherries add tartness and sweetness, this beer is balanced, complex, and has some depth, definitely going to pick up another bottle or two for the cellar.

A: Lots of tart cherries, rich malt, light esters with a light sourness with a trace amount of vinegar.

A: Deep red, lightly hazy with a thin white head that quickly forms a ring around the glass.

T: Tart cherries upfront, light complex malt, with a touch of caramel sweetness, just a touch of vinegar with a moderate sourness that lasts through the finish.

M: Medium-light bodied with moderate carbonation with a light, but pleasing acidity.

O: Very tasty; the beer has an excellent amount of cherries to contrast the malt's caramel sweetness.

Pours lively with currents of brown and red going through it, fine 1/3" head. Aroma was a plethora of what seemed to be cherries and blackberries.

Taste was delicious, one of the more enjoyable wild ales that can throw down with blackberries? Or is it just darker cherry varieties that have me going that way? Either way, its a dark fruit but not bitter experience, light funk touch, light vanilla touch, light oak touch. Kept getting more impressive each sip. Keeps a strong sour impact per Bruery's wild style.

Split with JLindros. Got this back in the 2013.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a hazy strawberry hue with a wispy head that fades to leave thin halo.

S - Aromas of cherries, vanilla, light malts. Fair amount of acid, tartness, real nice funk too.

T - Taste is lightly funky, nice cherries, good vanilla, pleasant light oak. Really subtle tartness. Good vinegar notes too.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, hardly there. Lightly flemmy.

O - Overall this beer was rather solid, very nice cherry notes. Excellent 300 bottle count beer.
