Notes / Commercial Description:
We debuted Griffon Bruxellois late in 2012 at a few of our events and it was quite a hit. This dark, sour ale was aged in oak barrels on cherries, giving it an incredible fruit flavor, balanced by the roasted malt and lactic tartness. We must admit, this bottle-conditioned beer didn't turn out quite as carbonated as we were hoping for, but it is still an incredible beer, 100% worthy of our high standards to be sold, served, shared and enjoyed!

Pours bright ruby red with just a small bit of carbonation. Not much, but there are some bubbles.

Nose features tart cherries, leather, caramel and some oaky vinegar tones. Smells a lot like cherry pie.

Cherry pie is a spot on descriptor for the flavor as well. Tart cherries are definitely the highlight although there is a considerable amount of oak and lactic sourness too. Flavor profile is rounded out with light caramel, vanilla and leather. Good tartness from the cherries and sourness contrasting with the base malt sweetness.

Medium bodied. Low carbonation although it is definitely present. Low carbonation isn't even much of an issue as it gives it a good creamy mouthfeel. I'd like to see what this one was intended to be, but the carbonation is by no means poor.

This is hands down the best Bruery sour I've ever had. Fantastic sweet and sour contrast and really was like cherry pie in a glass. It should come with a caution label though "Warning: May lead to a heavy Warrant playlist for the night"
