Split with JLindros and shared with Threelions.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark brown hue with a one finger head that fades to leave light lacing.

S - Aromas of sweet malts, caramel, alcohol hidden well did not smell like 15%. Very nice rye whiskey too!

T - Taste is caramel, vanilla, malty sweetness, awesome rye barrel, molasses, light dark fruit. Heavy rolo, toffee and nice sweet malts. Delicious caramel sweetness and barrel notes.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, to be expected, not that syrupy.

O - Overall this beer was very tasty, great sweetness, awesome barrel notes, good rye, very sweet, delicious.

Yet another of the Bruery anniversary series that was poured for fight night. Just makes sense given the size of the bottle and its strength.

Pours a dark brown with dark reddish edge on it, cream colored head 1/3". Aroma of sweet whiskey, can't tell the rye aspect of it, they all seem sweet, boozy caramel and toffee, vanilla.

Taste brings a complex amount of bourbon, wood, brown sugar, plum, raisin, toffee, caramel, leather, tobacco, earth, fall leaves, nuttiness and vanilla. These are all pretty much the same with minor barrel variations, rye whiskey is about the closest one to the regular bourbon version, perhaps a miniscule amount sweeter. They are quite drinkable relative to the high abv. Been describing them as boozy cracker jack liquid for some time now, still applicable on this one. When someone cracks one of these, its definitely a party time celebration. Sure the price is high, but man sometimes you just gotta splurge on awesomeness.

750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 4/16/2013. Wax got a bit brittle, but was easier to remove. Pours crystal clear very dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big raisin, plum, prune, fig, cherry, date, apricot, red apple, red grape, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, rye whiskey, toasted oak, vanilla, and brown bread; with light notes of nuts, molasses, licorice, cocoa, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Very slight booze in the aromas as it warms. Incredible complexity and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, and rye whiskey barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge raisin, plum, prune, fig, cherry, date, apricot, red apple, red grape, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, rye whiskey, toasted oak, vanilla, and brown bread; with light notes of nuts, molasses, licorice, cocoa, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Very mild herbal/grassy hop and rye/whiskey/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark fruits, cherry, apricot, red apple, red grape, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, rye whiskey, toasted oak, vanilla, brown bread, nuts, molasses, light licorice/leather/tobacco, herbal, grass, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, and rye whiskey barrel flavors; with solid malt/bitterness and rye/whiskey/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying sweetness after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and rye/whiskey/oak spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety, and slightly slick/sticky/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mildly increasing warmth of 15%, with no barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged old ale! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, and rye whiskey barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Amazing balance of fruity yeast and rich malts; with perfect rye whiskey barrel integration. Minimal booze/tannins. Not overly sweet/heavy for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example as expected of the base beer. These always age wonderfully after multiple years. All variations have been consistently impressive, regardless of barrel.

Picked up for $10 off the 'net. Had one in the closet, but couldn't pass up the deal. Very deep amber color. Smell is dark fruits, booze....flavor is the same...whiskey, dark fruits, candied sugar and even some citrus peel. Heavy bodied, but not quite chewy. This has aged very well, and next to the brandy variant, this is my favorite. Drink em if you gottem because I dont think it could get better than this.

Finally getting around to this one. Three-way split with Matt and Paul. Dark brown-ish mahogany body with a thin, beige collar. Huge malty, alcoholic aroma. Sweet and boozy with a bit of oxidation. Ok.

A: Poured into a snifter to a deep brown with some red highlights topped by a dense two finger light tan head that fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of caramel, toffee, fruitiness, hints of spice, oak and slight vanilla.
T: Taste is toffee, caramel, and some dark fruits along with some spice, and vanilla. There are some nice hints of oak in here too. Swallow is more dark fruits, caramel, and vanilla with some hints of baking spice.
M: This beer has a thick and sticky mouthfeel which is just fine. The level of carbonation is perfect for the ABV and style. Due to the ABV the beer also finishes on the dry side.
O: Holy cow is this beer good. Devilishly well integrated and easy to drink for the ABV. The flavors are top notch and blend together very well with everything in near perfect harmony.

Bottled 4/16/13; drank 4/1/16 @ Harvest Hop Haus.

Opaque brown/orange appearance.

Minimal khaki head; no lace.

Brown sugar & orange peel notes in the nose.

Medium thick mouthfeel.

Brown sugar, orange peel & caramel flavors up front; chocolate notes emerged as this warmed. Almost no booze heat. Unique & delicious; pretty much as good as it gets.

Drank with 3.5 years of age on bottle. Awesome variant. Has a good amount of sweetness. Rye barrel flavor present though not overbearing. A sipper of a beer. Would go great with a cigar!

L: very dark with a nice head that boils down to nothing.

S: malt, booze, whiskey. Good smelling beer.

T: Sharp bite of rye with a beer back. Good combination here. The alcohol is definitely present but no harsh .

F: feels like a 15% beer .

O: very nice beer. I got a large shipment of bruery beers over Christmas. Sucre 3 barrel aged as well as bois 3 barrel aged variety. This is the best so far.
