12 ounce can, expiry date of March 2019.

Pours a pretty, very cloudy rose-pink. Back in the day, it was customary for German pubs to provide flavor syrups that were poured directly into Berliner Weisses. For whatever reason, doing as such is frowned upon within the American beer snob community, and so I've only seen this practice once stateside. That was the only other time I've seen a Berliner as vibrant as this one.

Smells very raspberry-heavy with only some slight hints of yeasty sourness. It's still a very bright, organic-smelling raspberry aroma, though, reminiscent of New Glarus' Raspberry Tart (though not as rounded or sweet). It's maybe a bit unbalanced, but overall a very fine aroma.

Tastes, again, a bit unbalanced, but very good on the whole. Round, rich raspberries up front move into a lightly sour middle. The finish is yeasty and a bit faint, but that's perhaps necessary to avoid overpowering the fruit nodes of the rest of the beer.

Overall, this is one of the better fruited sours I've come across in the past few years.

July 6th, 2015 - Long before the great controversy surrounding 10 Barrel's entry into San Diego, I had a chance to sample their brewing technique at Parry's Pizzeria, this one a Berliner Weiss. A beautiful and hazy auburn color, the aroma competes with the pizzeria's atmosphere And maybe it is the basil in the air, but this smells like strawberry ice cream, and even a little like the freeze dried strawberry ice cream that used to come in astronaut branded pouches. At first sip I immediately catch the low carbonation of the beer, and how that turns down the expected sweetness. And it must be one of the least sweet fruit beers I have ever tried. And I like it. It's not that the raspberries here taste unripe, just that the overall sugar levels have been reduced. As the sip progresses on the palate it starts subdued and then explodes with a tanginess, followed by a mellow raspberry flavor that coasts into the aftertaste.

L - 1-finger pink head atop a translucent maroon body.

S - sweet raspberry jam.

T - semi-sweet raspberries with a surprising tartness. Only mildly sour, with low acidity. No bitterness. Moderate-low sweetness. No booziness.

F - medium-light body with aggressive carb.

O - one dimemsional, but it’s a tasty dimemsion.

This beer pours a bright ruby with a solid head. The aroma is pretty staightforward raspberry with crisp lemony tartness. The flavor follows along the same lines, with clean sweet sour raspberry flavor. The mouthfeel is light with a bit of a cloying finish and bold carbonation. Overall this is a pleasant beer that does what it is supposed to.

On draught at Gaslight Social Club.

It pours an opaque pinkish red, good long lasting head of pinkish foam, nice lacing.

Smell is delightful, raspberry city, wheat, mild tartness hints.

The taste emphasizes the raspberries and that's what it's all aboot. Truth in advertising always impresses me whether I favour the beer or not.

The mouthfeel has an almost raspberry puree feel to it, which I enjoy.

Very nice beer.

12 Fl. Oz. can
Served in a sour glass

This beer pours a deep purplish red color. It is topped with a fleeting head that leaves no lacing.

The smell is sweet, ripe, juicy raspberry. After it sits a couple minutes I smell some tartness.

The sourness is more apparent in the taste. The sweet raspberry really compliment this sour ale. The finish is a little dry.

Medium bodied. Dry finish

This is a super refreshing beer on a hot, muggy, summer day. Each sip leaves me wanting another.

another flavor of this, i suspect they will ride this out indefinitely, peaches in the summertime, apples in the fall (see what i did there?), whatever, they arent bad, and as a gateway sour type, i think there is value here. the raspberry in this one gives it a deep pink hue and a really significant jammy fruit profile, halfway between real ripe berries and some delicious concentrate, both in aroma and flavor, and i dont really mind it being a little sweet, because its so obviously raspberry and the sourness dries it out and cleans it up before it can turn candy-like or too intense. the sourness is high, and its entirely one dimensional, but it is clean and it works here to cut the fruit, and to make this tart and refreshing when its cold. i can see the appeal here, and why brett or oak or anything would make this less approachable for so many. its simple nature is its success, and its carbonated like a la croix, so it stays lively and light even if the flavor of the raspberry is robust. hardly any grain character at all, and without such effervescence it would definitely seem watered down. its a little oversimplified to me, but it doesnt taste cheap either. better than some of the other versions of this, seems like there is a natural synergy between the fruit and the lacto here. if you like raspberry in any form, this will not disappoint.
