Medicore at best.

The fact that this beer gets 78 on a website like this when there are much much better lagers out there with way lower ratings is very disappointing, I can't believe I'm drinking the same beer as you guys. This tastes like your typical crap AAL like Bud, Miller or Coors, maybe slightly a bit better, but it's really not much of a difference. Modelo is a MUCH better beer and it scores 11 points lower which is insane. It seems some people are easily fooled by fancy packaging and the fact it comes out of a "craft" brewery. Seriously guys if this beer came in a Bud bottle you would all be giving it trash sub 50-60 ratings.

I actually just made an account on this site to make my review because of how disappointed I was in the rating this beer got. This beer has a fucking better score than the classic euro lagers like Heineken and Stella, it's baffling. To think I actually bought this thinking it would be decent due to the packaging and the fact it came out of a craft brewery, I won't be making that mistake again. It seems the only good lagers you can buy while living in the US are the ones that are made outside of the country like Modelo. Don't get me wrong there's a lot of great things about the States, but what is it with Americans and loving watery piss tasting lagers?

Also I love the review on the second page saying it pours "the classic golden lager color.' LOL since when is watery piss straw AAL colored lager the "classic golden lager" color. Some of you guys are really kidding yourselves with this beer.

$6.99 for a sixer of tallboys at Grocery Outlet might make this the best bang-for-your-buck purchase in my normally very expensive area.

Clear, straw-yellow pour, mildly malty aroma with pear in the background, not as cloying as some of its adjunct competitors, and I can appreciate the full 5.0% ABV. There is a minor metallic aftertaste that I think takes away from the cleanliness of the finish and could do without, but it's at least well-carbonated.

For being from Oregon, it's got something of a Great Lakes charm to it. Although not the last American lager I'll ever buy, it's a welcome change of pace from the usual MHL/Hamm's/Banquet.

A more alcoholic, but far less tasty modelo, it tastes like a knockoff mexican beer, but is somehow cheaper.

12oz can best by June 20th 2023

On a pretty hard pour, I get just over a finger of white head that starts dissipating relatively quickly. Body is a clear gold. Almost seems like it wants to lace but just doesn't.

Aroma is very vague and lacks any hint of "craft lager". No real maltiness let alone a single hint of hops. This beer is all fermentation character, reminiscent of a "premium" macro lager. Crisp but not exactly a beer you want to smell again.

Taste is light and again reminds me of a "premium" macro or maybe even light lager. Right upfront it seems quite watery and maybe a bit mineralic. Some grainy flavor creeps in on the very finish. Reminds me of a slightly cleaner and lighter cross between PBR and Budweiser.

Feel is dry to the point of vague astringency, but surprisingly persistent. It almost comes off as full bodied if not for the dryness, which lingers a bit. Not bad, but still not quite smooth.

Overall, this beer isn't that good. It's at its core a Macro lager. Anhueser Busch should've just relabeled Michelob Classic Lager and sold it as this, it would've been better.

November 2023 update/random thought
I might give this another try if it sticks around now that ABInbev sold 10Barrel to a Canadian weed company.

25oz can of "cheap fun", dated 26Jul23. Tasting glass is a small Mexican glass. Crystal clear, faint and yellow, with a good amount of head formation (though it quickly falls). Not much aroma to speak of. Not much flavor, either. It's definitely a Munich lager by way of American macro lager, though. There's some crispness from hops, and a kind of toasty, munich/vienna-y, maybe even corn-y malt flavor. Subtle, subtle. What's really impressive though is the lack of obvious defect. This beer is big (like, physically the can is big, volumetrically), 5% ABV, and delivers what it promises. I can't really complain but also I'll probably never drink it again.

L: Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small head and no lacing on the glass.

S: Sweet malt, some baked bread, a slight tartness and a note of lemon. Aroma is ok but nothing spectacular.

T: Baked grain and bread a slightly weird tartness, OK but not as refreshing as some other pilsners.

F: Smooth but not as crisp as expected.

O: This is a kinda disappointing lager ok but there are much better out there.

12oz can served in a tulip. Best By 15 May 2022. My father in law brought a few of these to share for the super bowl.

Pours a clear dark golden with a biggish head that settles into about a millimeter thick sustained layer with a pretty substantial amount of ongoing carbonation. Smell is yeasty funk, a little grain, and an odd, misplaced fruitiness I can't pinpoint.

Taste is very grainy, I'm not getting the odd fruitiness here (no wait, there it is in the aftertaste). It might actually be corniness coming across a little weird. No idea if corn is actually used in this, though. Kind of watery. Light grassy bitterness.

Mouthfeel is thin and watery, carbonation is noticeable but not as much as I would expect from the appearance. Overall...it's an OK beer. I suspect I'd get more enjoyment per dollar from my regular AAL of choice.

If you enjoy Bud Miller Coors...you will like this one too.
If you don't enjoy AALs enough to give ANY of them a GOOD RATING .then WHY DO YOU BOTHER TO RATE A STYLE THAT YOU CLEARLY DO NOT LOVE...?

An uncomplicated concoction that is nicely tasteful and w/out too much gumption. A good, fulfilling buzz to it. I dig the generic art form design it's packaged in, too.
