Notes / Commercial Description:
An American wheat beer with a Belgian inspiration, Sundown Wheat aims to blend the best of two worlds. This refreshingly light beer is brewed with American wheat, two-row barley, and a touch of flaked oats. It is delicately hopped with American Sterling hops and spiced in the tradition of Belgian wit beers, using coriander and dried sweet orange peel.

Wheat front with a flowery finish slight grainy hints.

Taste Rating in Words: Just imagine you went to the park and at the park there was a rock you could lick with "tastes of the park".

I do like wheat beers, especially German and Belgian style ones.

The bottle is what sold me on this beer. It's a beautiful illustration of an old tree during sunset, amidst regal, golden colors. Looks more expensive than it is, locally. (I drank this straight from the bottle, as I do every beer. I have no word on the pour, but I'm sure you won't be arrested if you try.)

It certainly smells like a wheat beer. Fresh, citrusy, maybe even grapey notes, the latter being my first guess before I knew it contained orange peel.

The first sip is usually the best, and it certainly was here. The taste is nice, light, and refreshing, even warm. It reminds me of the fading of summer to the chill of fall, that golden change that comes this time of year. Another surprise is its sweet intro: a fruity, floral kind, like a rose is, and not a sugary sweet. It has a light mouthfeel with a slightly acidic tang to it. The first flavor that came to mind was grape or muscadine(?), but upon further tasting, I can definitely detect some slight and well balanced coriander with it. I do find that it's a little hard to tell that there's even orange peel in there by taste alone.

I'll also add that, while I was thinking this would sit among my new favorites for wheat beers, the taste unfortunately tends to plateau after a while, and the excitement of the first, incontextual taste fades with each sip, meaning it's still a refreshing drink for a nearly 5% ABV, but it stops being exciting after a while. I will say, though, it is quite nearly a "satisfying" drink, in that it doesn't behave in the manner of potato chips. It's very close.

It really is a nice beer, and a great one for the coming season. It reminds of something that could be served during Thanksgiving, or the weeks leading up to Halloween, perhaps.

8.5/10

An autumnal surprise, for sure.

This is probably a perfect example of a wheat beer. That said, it tastes like water to me. Just not my bag at all.
Light lager style color, scant white head, cloudy, almost non-existent smell and taste

Poured into a clear, plastic cup from an undated bottle. Translucent straw color with a barely there head that recedes quickly and doesn't leave lacing. Aroma of grass and subtle hops that doesn't really stand out. Taste reads like a basic hoppy wheat. Hits of wheat and light citrus hit before a slightly spiced hop finish. Light body and medium-light carbonation with no aftertastes.
It's a completely unoffensive wheat beer. Not enough hops or citrus to "pop". It's a harmless lawnmower beer that is crisp and crushable. Kinda generic for the style but nothing is wrong with it.

Not much to look at as far as wheats go. But real crisp, good drinkable beer. Feels real good on the palette. I would happily drink this with a meal. Solid effort

Hazy gold body with thin head. Aroma: citrus, spice and grain. Light flavors of grain, citrus, coriander with a clean finish. Body is light, crisp, effervescent. Solid.
