Looks nice. A golden orange color with a 3/4 inch head and decent lacing.

It's somewhat malt-forward for a pale ale on the nose, and the hop aromas are fairly restrained (at least for this West coast palate).

Tastes great, though not very exciting. Has a strong malt backbone, but finishes nice and dry with a clean bitterness. I'm happy to report it's very clean - hasn't always been during my handful of visits in the last year.

Mouthfeel is good for the style, though undercarbonated.

Overall, I like it. It's clean and refreshing and thank goodness for some hops for once! Would it go into my regular rotation back home? There are a lot of APAs I prefer, but for 40 pesos a pint during happy hour (or was it even cheaper?), most definitely.

Darker golden. Piney aroma. Bitter piney, floral hop presence. Bit of malt body there. A little bit of balance. Medium carbonation. Overall, mediocre pale ale.

Pint enjoyed at the source restaurant in Cabo San Lucas. A deep copper red with two fingers of creamy beige foam. Aroma screams English malts, biscuits and light caramel seasoned with leafy, slightly earthy hops. At long last, some hops in this darn country. Its not an IPA but its no Corona either. My assessment is that the malts trump the hops in terms of overall effect, although there are some rich orange/grapefruit marmalade and peach notes. The peach is quite unique in this style and much appreciated. Malts coming across as lightly toasted and even a tad smoky. Body on the thick side of medium with prickly carbonation that could stand to be mollified a bit. Semi-dry finish includes some pine and gooseberry notes that "betray" the use of American hops in this hybrid model. High fizz factor notwithstanding, this is a relatively undiscovered gem in the desert.
